In an effort to stand out, Mizuno has never really been afraid to take risks. And for 2024, Mizuno is giving us the Neo Vista. It’s a very tall shoe with a knit bootie construction and a new squishy foam. It’s intended for runs that aren’t exactly slow jogs but also aren’t speed sessions. For those of you looking for that SC Trainer v1 replacement, I think you’ll really like this shoe. But for me, it’s a tough shoe to recommend unless you’re a mid foot or heel striker.

Great review as always! May I suggest adding the range of pace (in min. / mi. or km.) when you describe moderate efforts, easy run, threshold, etc.? You may not be an elite runner, but you're pretty fast, so your threshold pace might be someone else's anaerobic speed :D I think Adding a specific number will help translate the description for viewers across a wide range of running abilities.

Just picked these up after giving up on trying to get a pair of the SC Trainer V1. I heard a lot of good things about the SC Trainer V1 so I was super excited to get these as a SC Trainer V1 “clone” . Took them out for a 10k run, they were super mushy and comfortable, my feet never felt so fresh after a 10k. I wasn’t so impressed with the rebound and the roll, but that could be because I’m more of a forefoot striker. I’ll try to focus on striking more with my heel for my next run. Overall I love how these shoe keep my feet feeling so fresh after a longer run, these are my new replacement for my Invincible run 3s as a long run shoe.

I got these shoes a week ago and have taken them for both an easy run and a long run with threshold work, and I have to say these are the most fun running shoes I've tried in years! At slower paces, I find they have the same squish/bounce sensation that the original Alphafly's have at fast paces. Over the long run, they were beautiful in protecting my legs and giving me some extra bounce later in the run. During my threshold intervals they were fine, but that is where I would stop the Alphafly comparisons. They aren't as fast as an outright race shoe but still... I would use this shoe for anything and would even run a marathon in them if I didn't want to shell out the cash for a super shoe.

it is in that running in it is so soft its like running through mud to pick up the pace. I would not order this shoe from Mizuno btw as once you run in it they won't let you return it. learned that the hard way.
@joshfrees7401
@joshfrees7401 Ай бұрын
It definitely feels light on foot, I didn’t experience any “running through mud” sensation. To be fair I’ve only used it on one run and for a 10 mile tempo, it was really easy to hit my paces. Warm up pace was at around 8:00 minute miles for 2 miles, then picked it up to 6:45 for the run. At those paces it felt great, way easier than the New Balance SC Trainer V2 that I ran in previous to these. The NB felt heavy and it was hard to put any speed into them, though they are definitely more comfortable than the Neo Vistas.

Sometimes heel wear comes from forefoot striking (forefoot is initial contact point and then back of the shoe hits ground on push off). It’s why a lot of my daily trainers get a lot of wear on the lateral heel

Hi Kofuzi. New subscriber here. Btw, I really need you advise. Lately I've been considering to buy a new shoe. But I haven't decided should I buy a plated shoe (this neo vista is one of the option) or rebel v4. If you suggest to buy a plated shoe, which one should I consider to buy? Fyi, I'm a slow runner with pace around 9 - 11/km. My body weigh around 170 pounds with height around 5'7. For now my shoe rotations are asics novablast 4, new balance 1080 v13 and hoka bondi 8.

I ran a few miles in demo shoes in a local Mizuno event. The foam feels like EVA in Atreyu Artist and close to softness of New Balance RC Elite v2. I dig the upper and comfort of this shoe but I was expecting a bit more energy return (and I am a mid-foot to heel lander). I would like to get a pair sometime as a recovery shoe/causal shoe but I would be looking for a deal for that as it would be too expensive for that purpose. Upper also reminds me of knit upper of Nike Epic React 2 which is my current causal use shoe.

Well. I'm getting it -- just because I'm an illegal stack height collector. If it's illegal, it has to be good, right? I only agree with Mr. Fuzi about half the time. Remember when he said the SCT2 was more boring but better? I agreed with half that statement. 😁There can be no doubt that Mizuno took the SCT1 as their inspiration (stack height, center channel, knit upper) so I'm supercurious about the not-quite-supercritcal EVA. I'm concerned that the grommets won't allow a runner's knot which I use on just about everything. I really hope that doesn't become a new trend.

I personally prefer the 25 to the 26. The Neo Vista is certainly worth considering, as it is cushier than the 26. But it would only make sense if you think it would work for your footstrike. I’m not sure speedier is exactly the word I’d use for it but that may be because it doesn’t seem to agree with my footstrike. I think I’d look at it as an endurance or Grand Touring version of a nimbus. A little bit more cruise-y. A little bit more airy. Still comfy

@kofuzi
@kofuzi 29 күн бұрын
What I mean is that it makes my arch ache without blistering. So it’s not from contact with the shoe but from like a muscle strain. There’s something that the shoe is doing that is working against how my foot wants to work. And that puts undue strain on muscles of my feet

Bought. Used for easy 5km recovery run (I'm a noob so can only do 5:40min/km). I'm a midfoot striker, with heel bias, and this rivals NB More V5 in terms of squish. Definitely made for heel strikers and feels almost as nice as heel striking in Novablast 4. The eyelets mentioned is a concern because I usually use a runners knot and have to cinch these fairly tight. The grommets aren't grommets at all upon close inspection, they're only 0.2mm thick of flimsy plastic so only cosmetic. The two top eyelets go through another layer of "reinforced" material that also encompasses the heel and forms the flimsy heel counter. DO NOT get the white (women's) colourway as I did as it stains extremely easily. Walked though some grass and managed to get several ugly marks even after copious dousing with Scotchgard. I went down one size and the fit is 👌. Very comfy and snug. Lovely to walk in.

The lace problem... would a runners knot solve that?.. so go thru one grommet hole, directly back thru adjacent hole. Do on both sides, then thread thru created loops and tie the laces.
@kofuzi
@kofuzi Ай бұрын
I don’t think so. Admittedly, I only looked at it for a minute, but unless you avoid the grommet entirely, at some point, the lace has to go from outside the shoe to inside. And that is where the potential irritation occurs
@outerheaven8797
@outerheaven8797 29 күн бұрын
@kofuzi oh OK... Maybe a way to fix the issue would be to have a pair of single eyelets on each side, to thread lace thru before it gets to the grommet. @@kofuzi I wasn’t. I watched all of the video and enjoy most of your videos that have good content, however this was an opinion from a fellow shoe geek. Maybe the shoe is over complicated as you talk about different variances affecting your gait and muscle imbalances. The majority of people just want to go out and run and not overthink as that lessens the enjoyment. It’s good that you pointed the issues out. Keep Running 👌

Prime example of how the running shoe industry is headed straight towards a cliff. Another desperate attempt to coddle the consumer's feet as much as possible, for a premium price. Don't fall for the marketing, no one's feet needs this much cushioning!!

These are cheap for the amount and quality of the foam. Inferior shoes sell for over $200.

That shoe looks ridiculous. Both in the color and the design. And shoes are getting heavier because people are heavier. I’ll stick with lightweight race shoes.

If you’re thinking the Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 is the pinnacle of what EVA based foams can do and therefore don’t run in any other EVA based shoes, you will be missing out on a lot of fun miles. Luckily, there are a lot of non-EVA options available on the market today.

@@kofuzi why even bother with EVA based foams when PEBA is FAR superior in literally every way? Sure, PEBA shoes are usually, if not always, more expensive but if one can afford it, why not?
