Mizutsune / タマミツネ - Battle Theme [ Monster Hunter X / モンスターハンターX ]

Mizutsune has a long slender body just like most other Leviathans. However, it is one of the few Leviathans to actually have fur on its body. This fur covers its chest, underbelly, legs and tail. Its scales are light colored and resemble those of a fish. Its head has a long snout and is beautifully adorned by many fin-like appendages. These fins are pink with yellow markings, and they can also be seen on its back and tail. Its feet are said to be quite different from other Leviathans and allow Mizutsune to move swiftly on land. Mizutsune is able to breath bubbles at its enemies and able to produce these bubbles in its fur. It is unknown at this time what the bubbles do though many believe it hinders the movement of prey. It can also fire pressurized jets of water from its mouth, much like Plesioth.

Moria Dylon Well I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT the most beautiful monster for the most beautiful area However the coral highlands dont have enough water and are Mountain like zones. The majestic Malfestio would fit perfectly there. Mizutsune could go around at the sea side near the forest where Great Jagras usually goes to eat Aptonoth. Thats a good habitat for Mizutsune and would be as beautiful if you hunted it at night. And it would teach Anjanath who's the boss lol It wont have any predators for it so it would be the apex of that area as Rathalos aparently dont go there (and Mizutsune are actually above Rathalos in difficulty so I dont know...)

Its Japanese names translates to Tamamitsune, which comes from Tamamo-no-Mae, the actual nine tailed fox yokai. So yes, it is based on that.

As a result, some sound better or worse. It looks like Capcom is doing the same for Rise to make the themes sound more Japanese-esque based on Mizutsune's theme alone. But Mizutsune's theme was already Japanese as hell.

Mizutsune brought me to monster hunter. I was browsing themes one day, doing a few wiki dives, enjoying the cool designs here and there and the music - and then, I found this absolute masterpiece and saw this beautiful monster and I just was in awe! I had to look up what game he was in, expecting it to be on a system I didn't have (like so many others) and imagine my delight and desire when I realized he was on Gen-ult, on the nintendo switch! I snapped up that game and, well, here I am. I love him in gen, i love him in rise, and his armor is so cool.

This dragon, called the Tamamitsune, was originally a Chinese dragon báilóng, but this Tamamitsune has additional Japanese fox and snake motifs. Byron is also enshrined in many Japanese shrines. in Japan. Byron is called 白龍Hakuryu. Means white dragon in english Byron has also appeared in Pokemon [Japanese name] ハクリュー Hakuryu [English name] Dragonair It will also appear as a Hakuryu(white dragon) in Studio Ghibli's anime movie "Spirited Away". And this music uses a lot of traditional Japanese instruments such as shamisen, shakuhachi, wadaiko drum,Hyoushigi(Wooden stick) etc...

Per. Cu. Ssions. Audible ones. The beats in Rise sound like they're muffled A LOT (Chameleos' theme is a great example). It can also be a design choice to use softer beats, but it just makes everything less intense. When I listen to Mizutsune's Rise theme, the shamisen plays where this version's drums were, so it's almost inaudible. I couldn't name the instruments because I'm unfamiliar, and a freaking noob, I believe I hear snares and a jiggly instrument 8 times per beat, then during the chorus, the small and big Japanese drums (you know the ones), wooden clangs, plus a taiko-daiko-type-drum in the background going crazy. I totally see that part being played during a Japanese festival. I don't know why I mentioned that.

+Danodan94 I personally go for striker light bow gun or aerial/adept sword and board. I can abuse my range and mobility as well as become a stylish hunter with it. Aerial/adept sword and shield let me stay close to or on top of the beast, and no sell my way through attacks.

At night (irl) i went on a casual server, the host just ranked 3, then checked the new quests, then at one point decided to hunt Mizu. I was a prowler, it was on a calming night, and my teammate with her Hunting Horn, took her stuff from the box, and me as a polite prowler, gave her extra potions. We headed towards the objective. When we arrived, the awesome music started playing, but i couldn't see Mizu. I gazed farther in the distance, it was hard to make out, so i ran toward it. When i saw it, i couldn't believe how beautiful and awesome it was, and couldn't move for a few seconds, as my teammate charged in, i snapped out of it. As we attacked it, i felt bad for taking it down.. The battle was ending, i saw how low my partner's health was, and she wasn't drinking any potions, so i assumed she was out. I was replenishing my health with Emergency Retreat. As i came out of the ground, i charged as fast as i could to save her. Mizu was about to attack, as i ran, i jumped off a ledge, and dealt the final blow. And that was my first encounter with Mizu. I s**t you not, that's how it went.

I've read the first manga and I will not it is a lot more realistic than the games. while in game we beat the crap out of monsters like kushala daora and tigrex in the manga they are monsters that are to be feared. an anime will perfectly portray what monsters can actually do to hunters and the actual dangers and risks of losing their lives that hunters face every day.

In World, when you capture a monster they usually end up in the arena, so if you don't take that arena quest, they probably just kill a lot of would-be hunters in the arena and get fat in captivity

Any monsters captured in Monster Hunter are given to the person who gave you the quest. That person then does with the monster as they see fit, usually dissecting it for research and giving us the materials they don't need. In World, any monster captured is studied and then released into the Arena or back into the wild.

Although we never see them in any of the games, I'd love to get the opportunity to encounter a colony of Mizutsune females, or even males outside the breeding season - the only Mizus we hunt are males that are overflowing with hormones. Normally Mizutsune are incredibly docile, even harmless as long as they are not threatened or harassed. You could walk into a group of female Mizus, plop yourself down next to one that was fishing and throw a fishing line into the same body of water, and they wouldn't even give you a second thought.

Having heard the Rize version, I like this one more. the rize version is more japanese yes, but in a boring and generic way. It also kind of ruins the idea of "only elder dragons of notable reputation and power get vocal themes" idea. World gave one to Raging Brachydios, which was the last, and most powerful, non-elder dragon threat we faced in the entire game lore wise. this made him feel even more imposing than his attacks and stature already did, and it was great, throughout the game you only heard vocals in the music fighting elder dragons, the top of the ecological food chain, then suddenly while fighting a brachydios variant, vocals. it created an instant edge, and the tempo made you think fast, not always smart, but fast. it was less a battle of wits and more a battle of instinct. Rize's Mizutsune theme tried to replicate this, but the monster just isn't made for it. not only does it steal the uniqueness away from raging Brachy's theme but it also could mark the beginning of a dangerous precedent to set for new players. only hearing vocals in the themes of elder dragons prior to Raging Brachy set a standard, of a difficult challenge, and then hearing them right off the bat with Raging Brachy set off great big warning lights in my head. and it was amazing, his theme and fight are still among my favorites, top three even, of the entire game. all I hope is that Mizutsune's theme had vocal to hype up his return, and that other non-elder dragon themes without proper backing don't shot up often in game, hopefully not at all.

This version sounds more Japanese. The Rise version mutes a lot of this version’s percussion, percussion which, arguably added so much of that Japanese flair. Sure, the vocals are cool and all, but the Generations version of the theme has so much more punch as well as that Japanese flavor.

IIRC for Raging Brachy you got the standard Brachy theme first, and only during the final showdown does it switch to the vocalized version? Beyond that, it seems like Rise will be using background vocals as a standard musical aesthetic (Shrine Ruins, Frost Islands, and Mizutsune), which fits the Japanese theming quite well, though of course it means that super climactic themes will need something different to stand out. (IMO, one pattern is when you hear the _game's own theme_ incorporated into the battle music, as yet still reserved for final-tier monsters only, like Alatreon, Dalamadur, Ahtal-Ka, and Nergigante.)
