Yes, when Doctor Mix says the Jupiter 8 is: "Very expensive, very big and very rare". He really means it. I've just had a look at some examples.
@InXLsisDeo6 жыл бұрын
The even better news is that Roland now makes the Roland Boutique JP-08 which is pretty close in sound to the Jupiter 08 and much much cheaper. And it has MIDI.

Just found your channel and I'm loving the content! Your focus on old analog instruments gets me right in all the feels. I've gotten the analog bug recently and as much fun as collecting is, it's damn pricey. I doubt I'll ever actually own a Jupiter-8, so it's nice watching one from afar doing what it does best. Cheers!

I've got an old JX-8P and I thought that had some round, fat sound to it. Nothing compared to this beast! My holy grail as far as Roland keyboards go is to someday get a JX-10. My math teacher had one and that thing just had the most awesome sound to it. Huge, lush, great weighted keys, tons of settings to really fine tune the patches...just a super machine overall.

@@cmathews2112 We do it the old fashioned way. We write the settings down on paper, photocopy them, and mail them. :D I've actually wanted to start a Casio CZ enthusiast site/sub reddit for some time now where users could trade patches with maybe an Excel sheet or Google doc template. The CZ series was damn amazing when it came to patches. Eight step instead of four step individual envelope settings for the pitch, filter and volume, built in Ring Modulation, pretty cool PCM waveforms with a noise waveform for percussive or breathy effects, Phase Distortion (Casio's in house synth tech) couldn't replicate the old fat analog sound, but it was much more expressive and in your face than the typical FM sound tech from Yamaha. I can still slay with my CZ-101. :)

Hey man I really love your channel, just wanted to ask hopefully you will answer: Can I get similiar sounds using my Jupiter 6 Europa? also when you double the synth recordings pan all the way left and right what do you mean by "tuning" them differently? do you use the Cubase milisecond delay to make the image fatter? is that what you meant? also I presume you run the Jupe thru all sorts of awesome compressors and Hardware EQ/effects, would love to know what! thanks!! you should do masterclasses
@mima856 жыл бұрын
Yes a Jupiter 6 can definitely do these sounds. How I know it? Because inspired by this work of Doctor Mix I'm doing my own cover of Thriller with that synth, which in the next times will appear on my channel :-) I already did the initial synth stabs, here is how they sound (remove spaces from link): https : / / tinyurl . com / ybfhagfv It's all Jupiter 6. No other keyboards, no real brass section, just Jupiter 6 lines layered (8 of them) with some EQ, delay and stereo panning. Talking about the tuning thing it's very easy: just record one line with the synth and pan it all the way left, then record again the same line with the same sound and pan it all the way right, but before doing the latter just change the synth's MASTER TUNE a little bit. And that's it.
