@@yahya_176 plants do better when it's colder, less likely to grow algae. Also there's a big crossover with gardeners and aquascapers. You don't need good weather to aquascape but you do to garden.

This is my dream tank, I would like to put it on my TV cabinet and mount my TV on the wall above it, probably never do it though. I love minimalism and your rock scape is just perfect! I would only do lettuce or red root floaters as plants, nothing planted. Just simple......I only have a nano tank of 5 Gals now. But I can dream!

haven't watched yet but *i already love the thumbnail vs the tank in the first few moments.* i think sometimes we keep going with tanks that we kind of aren't really liking anymore, not enjoying or things about it don't work. and it's good to see an overhaul to show what is possible. plus the concept of this one is really cool. fast moving river for TINY fish, and that it's a slanted design for the scape.

A suggestion : after the planting show and tell the difference about how plants grown after 5 weeks like each plant that is planted. Example i wanted to see how helanthium Tenellum and eriocaulon red will look like after 5 weeks. Btw im also going to make a aquarium like this 😂 the shaoe is very unique 👌

Hey MJ, great video! To enhance plant growth, I like to only put nutrients where the soil layer is thin. Then when you have a thicker layer, like here on the right side, I firstaddthe substrate and add nutrients. Then a final layer of 1-2cm of subtrate before the plants. This way newly planted plants straight away have access to the nutrients and grow much better in the beginning of your setup:)

On a side note: despite of what it's called I am not so sure about the role/importance of carbon in the substrate (as Clear Super). I think (and I have been reading about this lately) it serves much more as a source to speed up bacterial growth. Nice work again, Mark.👍

Gorgeous tank. When you said river, the picture in my head was more of a river flowing the length of the tank. What it turned out was a bit different. Your flow was what I expected, but the scape was more of a cross section of the river. You gave me some things to think about with my 10 gallon long bookshelf tank. I scaped mine where the flow is along the length, but the actual scape is a section from the middle of a river where rocks have fallen and a long piece of driftwood has caught in the rocks forming an underwater bridge between rocks, and it flows the length of the tank. I used natural colored course sand and the rocks are dragon stone. The fish are a school of Venezuelan Red Sail Cory’s and another school of Chili Rasboras with a clean up crew of Amano shrimp. I planted it with crypt parva and lucens along the rocks, small Buce on the wood, and in the open area at one end I used dwarf sag. The dwarf sag has covered and I have to keep it trimmed. I am hoping the chilis will scatter their eggs in the sag and I will get some babies. My Buce is not doing so good in this tank, but I think it is too much light and too close to the light as I have Buce in other tanks and it is doing good in those other tanks. I have changed up my light, so I hope my Buce recovers. Love the long tanks. They are so fun to scape. Thanks for sharing your long tank and your beautiful scape.

Beautiful setup! Streams setup have always been a favorite of mine! 😍🥰 The different colored tails in the gastromyzon might be different species altogether since differences in sex are usually seen in body shape. I am a little bit worried about those loaches climbing out however given how high the water level is without lid but otherwise a very nice matured setup for those species~

Hi MJ - Great videos for inspiration. I think more in depth plant parring could be instering to learn more about. Here I mean rare and difficult plants. Why they go well together, why is it a difficult plant and how to work it. Basically more on your plant research I guess. Maybe stuff on truly rare plants. Just a thought. Thx.

i like the tank shape,i want to do fish in support of my houseplant water culture hobby with lowest cost and care needs,, my idea is too just have a flat live ground cover with a nice houseplant arrangement on top having its roots dangling in for character ,theoretically the fish are always visible and i guess the dangling roots will need trimming from time to time ,i think i am about to do my first tank like that!! a 10 gallon ,plexy glass with holes on top with 2 inch walls ,place terry cloth with some strips hanging into water to keep it damp add ceramic rings for a substrate to stabilize the houseplants,, add half inch soil with inch cap in tank, plant some low growth green low light vegetation,, add cherry shrimp, endlers or killifish and a nerite snail and viola ,a nice low tech tank with no need for added light heater or filter, perhaps i will add a sponge filter with airator and airstone as an extra boost to help fish and plants thrive, feed as little as needed for them to thrive and reproduce so that it does not create probelms, no added fertilzer in tank,,perhaps in the terry cloth on top but maybe not so that it does not seep into the water,,what have i missed? how wrong am i? what can i do better? PLEASE TELL ME, I WANT MY FIRST TANK TO ROCK AND EXCITE ME ABOUT THE HOBBY🤣🤣🤣🤣
