the original ‘making of’ documentary was released on videotape in 1985. it was later rereleased in the early 2000s with additional content. that’s where this footage comes from. I agree that it’s great to see michael’s creative process. the unused ‘sha-la’ that he instructed the group to sing, eventually became ‘our world, our children’ on the final version. you’re right in that Michael was layering his voice to give it a fuller sound on the chorus. hearing it in its rawest form demonstrates his talent and range - especially when he sang briefly without any music. Michael’s dance poses in between takes, or full on jamming in booth, was another form of expression that was joyous to watch 💜 overall I’ll say that this, and the making of ‘thriller’ are my favourite documentaries that were released during his lifetime.

That was a real master piece in the whole world. I think that Michael had his own style in music, dance and in his clothes. I always loved his outfits. I can remember when I saw that video the first time, I thought he must be a prince. I couldn't move my eyes from him. Did you noticed that in every rehearsal Michael is always dancing while he is singing his song. That was, what Teddy Riley, his music producer said, that he would always dance, even if they were just practicing a song. Music, dance, his clothing style and to help people in need was his passion! I lovey you Michael!

I have watched this a million times, I even have it saved to my favorites 🥰. Michael's voice is Heaven sent and I just smile and melt away everytime I hear him😌 . The most interesting thing about watching this was, seeing how excited the celebrities we're to meet Michael❤️!! I really wish I were one of the lucky ones to have met him or to be in his life. Words will never be able to describe how much I miss him and I want him back so bad 😞. I just feel like after he moved on to another life, the positivity for the world went straight out the window. #cyndi I watched to the end and absolutely loved it, I think what Michael was doing was adding his vocals around the other artists who had already laid down their vocals because at one part he sings right up to the part where Diana Ross sings and then he stops. I have this on a vhs copy tape ..had this making of we are the world way back in the 80s my dad made a copy and I recently found it in my vhs tapes mixed with old cassette tapes and stuff but yea I was born in 82 and we are the world came out on like 85 I was way little but liked michael jackson since I I saw the thriller video making of featurette on a video tape and was like 3 or 4 when I saw the video on mtv and could not stop watching the vhs tape over abd and over till it broke now I whish I still had that too but that's another reason why I feel very strong about the estate not ever releasing the Making of thriller featurette onto a dvd or bluray disc or something cause that meant alot to me and was my m.j introduction was that special making of thriller vhs tape where I just from then fell into being a big m.j fan.. so yea I once had a michael jackson vhs tape collection while growing up cause it went in order from the 1983 making of thriller featurette vhs tape then 2nd the 1985 vhs tape release of the making of we are the world which I still have then my third vhs michael jackson tape was 1987 or 88 release of his Bad album movie entitled Moonwalker which I found and I still have ..this we are the world song gave me some joy to sing since I used to abd still love music and sing as well .. but I remember I knew this whole song by heart when I was singing it. Back in 1985 86 like 5 or 6 years old mesmerized by michael jackson and his talent and yes I can sat michael jackson was pretty much a artist that really I looked up to as I grew with more passion and love for my music talent

Funny that you mention what he is wearing. Ever since I saw this back in 1985, I have felt like MJ was a jerk for dressing like that. Everyone in the studio had a look and ego. The point was to check your ego at the door and record the iconic song. MJ was the only person who didn’t. Yes, he wrote the song, but he still comes off as a jerk to me.
