How Good is a $100 "OEM" Backup Camera from Amazon - [Ram 1500 14-17]

Please subscribe for more! Got this aftermarket tailgate backup camera from amazon here: amzn.to/2C8YOSI. This is a quick tutorial on how to hook up a backup camera on a Ram 1500 2017, this should work on any Ram from 2014-2017.
ATTENTION: Not recommended for Factory OEM monitor/navigation units. This is for aftermarket screens.
Image sensor : 1/4" OV136 CCD Chip, .5 lux light sensitivity
Resolution: 600 TV Lines
Angle: Wide View 170 Degrees
Fits: Dodge Ram 1500( Years 2009-2017), 2500+3500 (Years 2010- 2017)

You did not have to drill a hole, you can run wire through parking brake cable hole.

Tailgate bolts are T30, not Hex 4.

First off, thanks for the main-steps walkthrough, clear video, clear voice, though a little fast paced 😎. Next, is the screen size fixed, or can it be enlarged? As shown, screen height limited top & bottom camera view, hence I could not see the hitch (when trying to hook-up a trailer, or other). Are the camera safety-zone guides/bars (green-yellow-red) fixed (linear), or do they turn with steering direction? Is the tailgate handle body (original, as well as the replacement w/camera) completely seated flush with tailgate surface (when job is completed)? Visually, in both Before and After, there seems to be a gap all-around?!?! Thanks again. - AEC

I have the same reverse camera on my truck but its starting to see blurry. I cleaned it already and still the same. It looks like if there is water inside the lense.. Should I buy a new one

My question is how da hell did ya purchase a Ram 1500 Bighorn which is a upper level package wit out a vack up cam. Thats part of the options package wit the 8.7 Uconnect radio

I have 2013 big horn with 8.4 uconnect and center console shifter, remote start...no back up camera or sensors in bumpers. I believe that came in 2014, but it's easy to add, and turn on with alphaOBD, or programmer witch come with some of the kits

Wonder if you can take the lock cylinder from the factor latch and put it on the Amazon one, so you can use the same key?

They don't come with key locks from Amazon you have to install your factory one on. Hope that helps.

I just bought one from omotor off amazing. The factory lock fit right in. So it’s your key. And if it’s on a dodge make sure you connect the optional power to a 12v system. Etc the plug outlet for a phone charger.

zx9rrider you can get those on Ebay is tesla style radio for ram trucks 2014 and up i believe

Are you aware of any plug & play upgrade to factory camera already installed.....i have a 2011 Ram laramie which already has the back-up camera , but i would just like an updated version with turning gridlines and such. i figure there is an aftermarket plug and plug just camera that will work with the factory wiring and (MyGig) head unit, so you just have to replace the camera just haven't found one.

Sorry guys. If your truck doesn't have factory turning grid lines. You won't get them without a whole new ECU...

You should consider filming the entire process instead of just voicing over a bunch of clips because some people are visual learners and have troubles just following along as you explain it without actually showing them the process. Other than that, Good video.

@@Tigris_River_Sand_Fleas The power wire is actually supposed to be run to the reverse light. The only reason you would run to constant power is if you want to or have the ability to manually turn the camera on or off. Also, drilling thru the floor and ripping up the carpet is not necessary. if you look up from under the engine at the firewall, or thru the top of the engine bay, there are several spots for wires to pass thru the firewall.
