When I first saw this movie I did not get the hate Terry got. She is a classic older sister. Big mama put a lot of responsibility on her so she craves structure and then everyone has her pay for everything. She has to run big mamas house and pay the bills. As a big sister I get how you can feel like you have to have your stuff together.

The group is called Milestone because his name is Miles, but it's made up from members of real groups. Jo-Jo and K-Ci from Jodeci, Babyface and 2 members of After 7, Melvin and Kevon Edmonds who are the brothers of Babyface. This whole soundtrack was/is good.

Last time I seen this movie, I was a kid. Now that I’m older with my own family, I can relate to it so much more. It’s been a year and a half since my grandfather passed. Which he was my best friend. He was the glue to our family, we would always have dinner at our grandparents house, always have a Christmas pajama party on Christmas Eve. He had a nickname for every grandchild, mine was ‘lil boy’ since I was the youngest of the grandchildren. We were both Geminis so we connected on a different level. It always seemed like if you need answers or someone to talk to, you could always go to him. But you know, when older ppl start “talking crazy” you know it’s almost there time to pass on. He bought a gold cross for a necklace, and said it was specifically for me. I knew what that meant, I just looked at him and just cried in silence. After that day I mentally had to prepare myself for his passing. When they called me, I didn’t even cry or have any emotion. I didn’t feel real. Still to this day, the family hasn’t been the same since he been gone. Everybody has just moved on with there own lives . And one thing about my grandpa was that he would just call you at random and just ask how you were doing and make sure you checked in on your family. I still try to follow in his footsteps. But sometimes it seems like there fading. Teared up typing this. I miss you Grandpappi ❤🕊️

Team Terri all the way! She was the victim in all of this and out of all of them, Big Mama was the villain IMHO. She and everyone in the family took advantage of Terri and expected her twice to forgive family for literally taking her men and having to sit down at Sunday dinner with them as if it’s normal. No thank you. I understood Terri as a child and as an adult, I understand her even more. She isn’t mean, she’s tired!

Don’t knock the herbal remedies of our elders and ancestors. They work. Well, they did until the modern diet all but made medicine required to live, especially here in America. Example? My grandmother used to have us brush our teeth with only baking soda and then rinse with peroxide. That’s how they did it when she was growing up in the 40s and 50s. Now, what do most toothpaste and mouthwashes come with? Mhmm.. There are countless other examples as well. The ancestors understood..

The first time I saw this movie I didn't like the Terry character I felt she was very uppity and head a superiority complex but really she was just bitter and jaded because her family uses her like an ATM and expects her to front the bill for everything without giving her the proper respect that she deserved. Noy to say teri didnt have her faults; she never supported her husband with his music career, very cold Just seemed to check out of the marriage. That wasn't an excuse for miles to cheat on her with her cousin, They were both wrong for that.
