.338 Lapua magnum is probably as close to .50BMG as tarkov is willing to get for man-portable rifles. The ASh-12 is a 12.7x55mm projectile while .50BMG is 12.7x99mm projectile. Just to show how much of a difference it is, 12.7x55 delivers around 3,000J of energy. Lapua does over twice that at 7000J. .50BMG is something stupid like 18,000J. This isn’t the be-all end-all of power, but it’s a good way to approximate it.

@@paint4326 True, but it has nowhere near the velocity or accuracy of a proper .50bmg cartridge, which brings down its power significantly. The listed velocity is 1/2 of a normal .50bmg (410m/s vs 920m/s) Given, that'll probably be a bit more powerful than Lapua, but its less useful than Lapua.

.50BMG in scoped rifles generally is not used for killing people and is instead used as an anti-material rifle, .338 LM is one of if not the largest round used in snipers for taking out personnel. .50 BMG is seen as too big and the round is generally less reliable and accurate than it's counterparts. Also, .338 in tarkov is already a 1 shot through armour anyways. I see your desire though, the bigger the gun the more fun it is right?

I'm probably wrong, but the whole vibe of the game seems to be using mostly crap gear to survive and escape "tarkov" and get the odd bit of cool gear along the way... but then thermals appear... And as you said, the game gets easier for those that are already accelerating.

@@OMGitsJelle Yeah, and then combine that with those websites that monitor packet data of the match and reveal approximate locations of players and it's a crapfest. At times it is really hard to tell if you got bested because the other player has better map knowledge or if the person is running thermals/hacks or those Tarkov packet data monitoring website, or all three! It sucks because this game is such a rush and is really good if it were not for these exploits.

@@skapiche5344 Then what is the point of the secure container? If we keep removing what you can put inside it then might as well not have this mechanic at all. Also, the larger capacity magazines take nearly all the space even in the Gamma container. After you throw in a sicc case, docs, keys, and meds, you are only able to fit one mag at most. Being able to keep at least one p-mag for my trouble of dying is the least the game can do, especially if I die to a hacker that doesn't deserve any of my gear. Just my 00.02.

dude first week of this wipe my friend kep pulling out mk-18s with FLIRS just because he likes it and he also likes absolutely bullying people. last wipe he would constantly run a mk-18 with a FLIR and a GL-40 as a back up just to be a prick. this wipe i kinda did the same for punisher on shoreline to get kills with scav vest an balaclava. i hate pvp on shoreline so i kept using an SR-25 with M61 and a ReapIR, i had killa armor and an altyn, literally so many people who just barely hit lvl 20 kept coming to me after hearing my fights, i walked out of one raid with 7 kills. poor guys didnt know what to do.

@@snoozie294 They may be even harder to obtain after BSG changed the rarity but that does not mean that hundreds of players don't have at least one set of thermal optics. Going into Woods now is a high chance of death if you try to sneak around the high traffic areas because every Tom, Dick, and Harry are running therms. And if they are not using thermals, some asshat might be cheating using those ping packet websites that reveals player locations. There is no way to stop those either. I've died in very strange ways that is only explained by thermal scopes or packet data websites for Tarkov, or both. It just sucks, and I wish thermals were removed at times.

Any game out there that is based off obtaining/losing gear will be filled with people that can play 8+ hours a day dominating the rest of the lobby. There's no way around that. Rust, Ark, and tarkov are my first three easy examples. But there are more out there. I mean think about it unless you limit the gear available to players to make it so the exact same quantity and type of gear is available to everybody (like COD) then streamers and all day gamers are going to have a massive advantage. You either learn to accept that or you find a different genre of game.

If you really want to come at me with the "GET GOOD NOOB", ask Pestily to rack up kills using the worst ammo in the game with the worst gun in the game, he can keep his top tier armor just to make things interesting. Using a 1-2 tap gun with a scope that turns the average rat into a boss level Chad showcases nothing but cancer. Using shit ammo and a shit gun to get kills like a Chad is what separates the try hards from the real chads.
