Another day with an Allegroman car. This old Astra really surprised me with its build quality and of course it is for sale on ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2043759061...

In 1984 the MK2 Astra seemed like something from outer space with its ultra modern integrated plastic bumpers and smooth plastic wheel trims. With this MK3 Vauxhall have really excelled with the interior haven't they? I mean it really does have a plush Roverish look about it. Certainly deserves modern classic status and a cracking buy for someone.

I hope whoever purchases this Astra takes very good care of it. I like it, despite only front power windows. Funny, I just saw a 2008 Astra 3 door today, I haven't seen one in ages! And no, it is not a Vauxhall or even a Opel Astra but a Saturn Astra 3 door!

I love mine. I bought a 97 astra 1.6i 16v arctic edition back in 2020. I originally owned a k plate 1.4i merit when I was about 20 and was missing the old school vauxhall drive and reliability so hence why I bought another one as a treat to myself for my 40th birthday as it was going to be my classic car and it's awesome it was very low mileage car with about 27K miles and was owned by a senior couple solely for taking to the shops and hospital appointments etc but the service history was outstanding and was always garaged and it didn't miss a single service and if it needed something it got it. It even had tyres from 2010 which I swapped immediately into my ownership as they were obviously dry rotted and cracked. It's now at about 30k miles as it's not my daily driver but it goes out regularly. Simply love the simplicity of it and how easy it is to work on and fix and parts are now super cheap compared to the 90's/00's.

I had 2 mk 3 astras, a petrol 1.4 California, back in 1993, which was if I may say, probably the best solid economical cars I ever had and very reliable. The diesel I got was just the LS N reg, i got in 2007 very cheap but went every where in it the car drove like a dream and not one thing went wrong with it. In my 31 years of driving these were the best cars I had for the money easilly!. Maybe was I lucky, I do not know, but lots were on the road one time put it that way.

ALLEGROMAN! 😀 I like this car! I used to have one! Mine was more of a basic model, 1.4 without power steering. Although a bit of an uninspiring drive, I found it a well built, comfortable and practical car. Mine was rather low mileage too - perhaps, with it being dull, previous owners became bored and didn't bother driving it much! 😀 This particular one looks in really nice condition. You could pretty much either use it as an everyday car or keep it for a show car. What is more, if one were to imagine the Astra in say beige, the style wouldn't look that far away from ... Allegro! 😁

These look great with the 14 inch Vauxhall alloys on. The 15-inch 6-spoke alloys on most of the last mk3's looked nice too. I also don't understand the obsession with massive wheels. They are a pain. They take too long to clean and we don't get paid to spend ages cleaning one item. They get thrown out-of-round too easily due to the increased circumference on the same material used, they are very heavy and cause premature wear on the car's running gear, and tyres are very expensive. An alloy refurbisher recently told me that alloys were not designed to be larger than 17-inches in diameter. But, people who know nothing about cars will buy anything with 20-inches and beyond and reckon their cars are the best.

What a beautiful car, it’s come from the Sidcup/Chislehurst area, which is on the South East London / North West Kent border by the looks of things, as I remember getting my Vauxhall parts from that main dealer, so I’m guessing it hasn’t seen much in the way of road salt.. Vauxhall really we’re top of their game with the Mk3, as I always thought the MKIV Astra just looked like an Escort Clone with a bit better build quality. 80’s to the Mid 90’s really was the best time to have a Vauxhall, as their cars were outstanding back then.

Hmm Astras... When we had no money as a family we had an 2002 Astra G (MK4) LS Estate for years. The 1.7 DTI Izuzu diesel. That was just after having a Rover 75. I didn't like it even on the first ride. I really believe like the Ford guy said 'you can tell if you like a car within 5 seconds of driving it.' Was a real rattlebox and had awful seat material. I had to clean it every weekend and attracted every hair and clothes fibres that took hours to get off and make look clean! 😂 it was quite a good family car though looking back. We did up to 200k in it and never went wrong. Quite nostelgic for it in some ways. My flatmate has the Mk5 Astra 2006 and I think that is leagues ahead. I like it. Got a lot of the same qualities of the MK3. It's also a 1.6. It's a smooth engine and a lovely quiet motorway cruiser. Got a bit of feel through the steering and interior quality is pleasing. I think it's a really good every day car. 😊

Always liked a top spec 80's/90's Vauxhall. GM did them with subtlety and gave the a classy edge without turning into a tacky tat box (Ghia spec of ford springs to mind🤣) Usual choice of colour for a range topper though CD? You'd expect to see that in a dark blue , platinum or burgundy as white was a fleet choice , and making it look more like a poverty spec. Until you open the doors , see all the goodies and the wood cappings. Had one a works car back then and they drive really well 👍

these were the only replacement for a mk3 escort ghia in my opinion the mk5 escorts were diobolical which riveled this car alltho ford did improve later the mk6 shape but then i didnt think the first focus was a patch on the mk4 astra even having nearly 40 fords i wouldnt give my astra for any of them back
