Michael Jackson vocal line "So when you shake it up, baby"
@jenniferfoster16923 ай бұрын
To me it sounds just like the exact line, 'Shake it up baby' from The Beatles' 'Twist and Shout', down to the vocal delivery. Almost an exact replication. Sounds good & nice reference.

Jesus, man. Insane. That distorted line gives the track so much meat, the whole track feels like it's sweating profusely. Wow. All love.
@bigmistqke6 ай бұрын
Love how loud that line is mixed. Sits comfortably on top of everything.

God this album is like if Phil Collins, Tom Petty, and Jai Paul had a baby together. The production is unreal.

Man, I felt like I was torn between two time periods on this album, you got that new frank ocean-esque sound meshed with sounds akin The Police, Prince, MJ, Fleetwood Mac, etc all over this album. This is genuinely a masterpiece of an album, and not just saying that out of bias, yall have managed to crack that code of colliding two worlds without bending too far to either side, something even mainstream artists going for that old style with the new never really achieve in its full extent. It’s not just a crime how underrated this and the rest of your discography is, it’s a damn act of terrorism at this point because once again, PURE FUCKIN GENIUS.

Yes he totally wears his inspirations on his sleeve. It's almost like an easter egg hunt from track to track. You hear the modern r&b, then you hear the 70s-80s synths that are reminiscent of tht bands that you mentioned, along with a few more to my ear. (toto, peter gabriel, phil collins, tears for fears, Bjork, ect.)
@jenniferfoster16923 ай бұрын
I immediately thought of Prince's 'Computer Blue', but I can hear the Police & even some Fleetwood Mac, as well. I see others talking about Michael Jackson but I'm not getting that so much, but I love that he's referencing a lot of iconic artists.

Yes, I just said the same thing!! Definitely 'Computer Blue' came to mind immediately, but some other stuff, too. Not a bad thing to reference Prince, intentional or not.

This track feels like it's pure unfiltered passion and energy all over the place and really well worked sound design. It's energetic and RAW. There are notes of experimental mixing and 80s treatment along with nostalgic vocal effect and burts of energy in music and screaming. It's dreamy and also futuristic yet nostalgic if this makes any sense. Similar tracks recommendation - Artist - Swansea Skag 1. Maybe I won't get high 2. Nostalgia 3. All in 4. Dog boy
