If you ever see the studded shoulders of rtb01 you will know why they split the shoulders. Every shoulder has deformed studs on the far edges of the pad.

The studs on the RTB01s aren't actually that bad (for '80s casts), but that's because the studs were smaller, and focused in a strip running down the centre of the pad. They don't extend too far out to the sides of the bads, which is where they'd get the most warping if they tried doing them in a two-part steel mould (can't have any details that'd snag on the mould and trap the parts inside when ejecting them after casting). For better examples, look at any plastic 40K Marine kit from the last 20 years with a studded pad, or even the 30K MKIVs. The studs at the sides deform into teardrop shapes, due to them backfilling the undercuts (snag points).

The arms are specifically MK VI, but if you saved the vambrace armor pieces, you can kind of cheese it; the arm’s should where it mates to the torso are flat, so as long as you scrape off the locating lugs on the MK III torso, you should be fine.
