He barely beat shinnok since he got up quickly and was ready to fight again. Only reason shinnok was defeated was because they trapped him in the amulet. Otherwise they'd all be dead eventually.

Lol, The Johnny to Raiden one felt so personal. Because in MK9 it was only sonya and cage that remained loyal and protected Raiden when everyone was dead "because Raiden had seen the future" and even liu kang questioned Raiden and chose to fight him which ended in Liu Kang's unintended death. And in MKX, Liu Kang was literally an enemy revenant and Johnny and Cassie risked their lives fighting and beating Shinnok twice
