I'd imagine God Liu Kang's internal monologue is just Good Raiden and Good Liu Kang stunting on Evil Liu Kang, whos soul was overpowered by them.

It is established when the time storm happens that gods are not affected by time the same way as mortals. Whereas two versions of a mortal can simultaneously exist in one place and time, a god seems to end up returning to his earlier state. Raiden did not merge with Liu Kang; what he did instead was to transfer his divinity/godhood to Revenant Liu Kang. When Liu Kang became a god, he returned to his prior, good version and the revenant was undone.

I thought it actually made some logical sense being that Liu Kang was Raidens prodigy to win MK so eventually the student became the master and took his job. That being said the story and timeline is wacky af but I love it.

Shinok was in the original timeline. He was the main enemy in MK4 Liu Kang beat him before dying in Deadly Alliance. The beginning of MKX is just MK4 but a lot of the heroes are dead.

He removed games from the timeline that doesn't really matter. And the Shinnok story doesn't really matter in 4 and only matters for the X version as it directly leads to 11 where 4 doesn't connect from 3 nor does it influence 5 (Deadly Alliance) besides the fact it introduced Quan Chi. Which wouldn't of mattered if he was introduced in an earlier game anyway (like how hes retconned into 9)

Gentlemen, you can tell this KZbinr is not a real Mortal Kombat fan. Because how could he left out Mortal Kombat four if Shinnock came out in Mortal Kombat 4 as the main villain and as a matter fact, in the ending of Quan Chi, he was the one that stole the amulet from Shinnock and betrayed him which lead to mortal Kombat deadly alliance when he try to resurrect the army of the dragon king, which is, after Mortal Kombat 4. And also in Mortal Kombat deception, which was after Mortal Kombat deadly alliance the reason why shujinko wasn’t just a random guy. He was tricked by onaga by resurrect him and try to gather the kamidokus. This guy is not a real true fan. He’s just basic.

Just a few quick things go clarify 1. Raiden was there for previous 1450 years of MK tournaments 2. In MK 3, Kahn's able to invade Earthrealm due to a loophool in the rules. Since his wife, Queen Sindel, was buried in Earthrealm, he has the right to go to Earthrealm to reclaim her. This gave him the opening he needed to bring his army in and since invasion doesn't follow the same rules as merging, it's fair game 3. You skipped over MK 4 but after that game, Raiden actually BECAME an Elder God and gave it up to protect earth, making that even more of a giga Chad move 4. Blaze is not out to destroy the world. He's just a test for whoever reaches the top of that big ass pyramid

K, so as someone who knows way more about this series, I remember why Shao was able to cross the realms in 3. Essentially, after getting gamer rage over losing to Liu Kang again, he made Shang Tsung go to Earthrealm so he could revive this E-Girl who also happened to be the queen of Outworld Sindel, who /kill'd herself after Shao took over Outworld and game ended her husband Jerrod. With her revived, Shao was able to abuse a loophole that allowed him to invade Earthrealm to get his queen who he tier 3 subbed to. Also Shang Tsung brainwashed her to make her an evil milf.

To explain a little more why the Mortal Kombat tournaments are set up the way they are. Shao Kahn was conquering realms before the tournaments were a thing. They only became a thing after he took over the realm Edenia. Where Shao Kahn took the Queen of Edinia, Sindel (Kitana’s mom), as his wife who ended up killing herself cause of the situation they were in. But before doing so she put a ward up where in order to conquer the last realm Shao Kahn must win 10 consecutive Mortal Kombat tournaments. She did this to give the last realm a chance to survive and not share the same fate her realm did. This would also explain why Shao Kahn invades Earthrealm in MK3. It is because Sindel is ressurected by Shang Tsung, but bewitched to be under Shao Kahn’s command, thus breaking the ward’s power.

This is actually wrong. Shao Kahn is stated to have successfully completed ten consecutive Mortal Kombat tournaments before conquering Edenia. The Mortal Kombat tournament was established some time prior.

As the commenter explained above, that's wrong. The Mortal Kombat tourmanent is created by the Elder Gods. They basically don't want the merging of the realms because every realm is a part of the consciousnes of an entity called the One Being. If all the realms are merged, the One Being awakens, and we're all dead. I guess the tourmanent is set so the realms can defend themselves and the Elder Gods don't have to constantly intervene (they are the most lazy and incompetent gods in any fictional universe).

In the original timeline, Shao Kahn abused a loophole in the rules to invade, that loophole being that he was allowed to invade if it was just to reclaim his "stolen" wife, which is why Shang Tsung ressurected her on Earthrealm and mind-controlled her, so as it would like she was there against her will. MK9's retcon has Sindel put a ward around Earthrealm because apparently the rules of Mortal Kombat set by the Elder Gods were "just fiction". All that was just a weird retcon that existed just so we could have our "defeat the baddie by letting them win" ending and it doesn't solve any plot holes, it only creates more. And then MK11 retconned it even further by claiming that Sindel was always evil and MK1 (the 2023 one) decided to support that retcon. This retcon is even worse and opens up a colossal can of worms involving contradictions and implications with pre-established stories and character assassination for Sindel.

6:07, in that original timeline, Sindel casted a spell before she died to prevent Shao Khan from entering Earthrealm. She didn’t want the same fate for Earthrealm as Edneia. In MK3, Shao Kahn didn't invade Earth Realm that easily though. He had helps, for him to be able to come to Earth Realm despite on a losing effort, Kahn had to trick the Elder Gods that his entry to Earth Realm is not a threatening one and as long as something that belongs to Kahn is in Earth Realm Kahn could legally go claim it. This is why Kahn had Shang Tsung resurrect Queen Sindel in Earth Realm instead of Outworld cause with Sindel on Earth Realm now, that means she is a possession of Kahn and Kahn could legally go claim her without the Elder Gods preventing him to do so. The only thing the Elder Gods didn't know was that Kahn never intend to look for Sindel and only use her resurrection as a mean for him to enter Earth Realm and rule it. It's kinda like this situation right here. Say you are at your grade school and one of your popular classmate that you dislike is planning a party at his place but everyone is invited except you but you really wanted to go to that party. Well as long as someone you know is over there you could still go there and not be kick out. So to get to the party you use your sister as a diversion cause you knew that even though the guy hates you he wouldn't say no to your sister. So your sister got in the party just fine but then later on you show up at the party, they try to kick you out but you had a very good reason to be there as you are there to look for your sister. With proof that she's there, they allow you to enter but once you enter rather than looking for your sister you stay to party instead. That's exactly how Shao Kahn gets to invade Earth Realm. Without Sindel, Shao Kahn's invasion wouldn't work cause the Elder Gods would had kick him back to Outworld upon first attempt. Also the question as to why Shao Kahn didn't do this from the beginning was cause why would he, Outworld was winning so he had no reason to think that Earth Realm would won the 10th tournament. To him Outworld was kicking Earth Realm's ass for nine generations, it makes sense why the Outworld tournament happen cause the Outworld tournament was suppose to be a rematch tournament, a redemption tournament since Outworld had a reason to suspect foul play as they were the victors before so it make sense for the Elder Gods to grant them the Outworld tournament. Losing the Outworld tournament does reveal one thing though, that Earth Realm is no longer the victim Outworld thought they were.

I absolutely hate; in any medium, when time manipulation gets introduced... That said, I love Mortal Kombat and how ridiculous it is, because that's kind of the point. You're meant to be unable to replicate it. - but when time travel is involved, all that ever means to me is "Suddenly, everything is either canon or filler" and arguments become futile. If I wanted to think Liu Kang had a daughter with Baraka because somewhere down the line, Shang Tsung pulled a Scooby Doo 2002 and rearranged everyone's souls into one-another's bodies, so now Baraka and Kitana have switched bodies and Baraka just got tired of all the fighting- he said "I'm hot now. Whatever."... THAT HAPPENED IN AT LEAST 40,000 TIMELINES AND YOU CAN'T PROVE ME OTHERWISE. It does sort of ruin it for me, personally, because I get extensively involved with the lore of projects I enjoy. So when lore; as Bizly goes on to say, "only exists to explain [insert reason for time being messed up] (Fire God Liu Kang)", I skromp a little. I become big schkroompin'. Again... It's still fun! I still love and will likely continue to love Mortal Kombat, Kingdom Hearts, DC, and any media that just sort of one day decides to pull Bulma and Trunks out of a bottle. It just makes me a little cautious about the lore that I consume thereafter. Awesome video, Bizly.

That was very fun. Sad you missed MK4. Also, a few notes about MK: Deception for those interested (the one where they fight Onaga). Onaga was pretending to be Damashi, the spirit which leads Shujinko on his quest to collect the kamidogu(McGuffins of the story). This all starts with Shujinko as a young boy getting sent out on an epic fetch quest by Damashi. Along his journey, he does some dumbass shit and ages himself, then he gets locked up and gets even older. After getting locked up, Onaga gets pissed from waiting and sends Dairou to free Shujinko's stupidass from prison. After collecting all, but one of the kamidogu, Onaga reveals himself and calls out Shujinko for being so gullible, after which Shujinko runs away. After grabbing the collected kamidogu, Onaga pays a friendly visit to Quan Chi, Shang Tsung and Raiden while they were fighting and snags the last macguffin after Raiden blows himself and the gang up (the MK: Deception opening cinematic). Onaga however cannot use the mcguffins' powers to their full intended potential, because of plot, and then one of the arcade endings happens I honestly don't know if Shujinko's arcade story where he defeats Onaga is canonical or not. If it was, he'd be unstoppable in Armageddon and it would be ludicrous to think that Raiden wouldn't have convinced the good guys to do the whole merging thing again, so they can get an easy W over Blaze
