Thankyou as always Rob, super video, that wood did look tough. Out of all the bushcraft skills I hate the bowdrill the most, only successful a couple of times, still never tried it until I was 67 , if your slowing down I reckon I have come to a standstill , love your knife stay healthy and lucky.

Beautiful design, all the blade ya need for knife stuff. The Condor Ripper , Tops Brakimo and Becker BK18 all have that same edge style. They are all different grinds of course but basically they have that nice mild sweep to tip. I have the Brakimo and the BK18 amd you can line the edges up perfectly . Your handle design is excellent esp the bolts being close to the edge . I've never really considered that , I just learned something new . Honesrly I prefer simple Carbon Steel, I have a couple blades in fancy steel, and they really ain't needed in real life. I have the Benchmade "Bushcrafter" 😏 in S30V, it's good steel with the right heat-treatment but I'd rather have a 1095hc version. 😉that will never happen .

@@RobEvansWoodsman I have been practicing, it has been paying off, before it was just tiny planks and chips, then turned feathers the more honed my grip became. All the while I had been using a mora bushcraft with a scandi grind, then a few years ago I purchased an FC5 and had to re-learn my grip, it’s a bit more difficult with a high saber cut, but time spent well.

Shorter blade always wins for me and preferably 3mm. Never got on with 4”/4mm blades that seem so popular. Never had a problem doing sensible battoning with a 3mm blade. Shorter blade so much nicer for carving, skinning, food prep etc. Anything more, axe and saw comes out. That tool is very elegant in its simplicity, great work Rob.

Great concept. I think the handle needs work. I saw a young knife maker, I can't remember his name, I think he's Hungarian but he lives and works in the UK and he has an interesting design of carving knife handles. Its design includes sharp edges and facets, which, according to him, contribute to ergonomics and reduce fatigue during long carving. Perhaps that is what would make this knife perfect.

Good effort all round there and as much as love your knife, I would also prefer a fatter handle, but each to their own. After part 2, I would be most interested to get your thoughts on that SILKY and how it compares to the ZUBAT and not only the sawing part, but the scabbard for rattling around like my ZUBAT does especially if one discards the protective blade cover.

Hi Rob, mk2 knife looks realy nice, and performed well, should be an ideal bushcraft knife for most people and I think Mors would have approved of your design, and build quality. An all around far more practical knife to take to the wood's. You've put your own experience whith long term knife usage doing bushcraft into the design , and undoubtedly sage advice from the one and only Mors , and the end result is something to be proud of, and hopefully achieves you aim to get back to your original idea of a knife for the woods. Cheers Rob mate, I hope your doing well, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.

Another great video! Thanks for putting the prototype through its paces for us all - watched the whole thing, no problem on length. Enjoyed every second and love the detail. Particularly interested the “pry bar” moment, but it made me cringe! Always thinking the bolts and handles will burst with any twisting/ prying haha… I’m never sure how far to push a knife and it was nice to see how these are strong tools (within reason of course).
