In this video I head up to Anglia Car Auctions for their August summer sale, which had over 250 classic cars lined up to go under the hammer. I wandered around the auction house recording anything that tickles my fancy, with this video featuring a wide variety of makes and models. I am a huge classic ford fan and obviously they still make up a big proportion of this video but who can blame me when there's so many temptations to look around!
In the outro of this video I explain my 'picks of the auction' and I would love to know, what you guys would've taken home yourselves theoretically speaking.

The "2001" Ford Scorpio is actually a 1998 car that had a private plate on from new and when it was sold at 3 years old, DVLA mistakenly gave it a "Y" plate instead. A very well known car in the Granada/Scorpio community... in fact, I nearly bought this car myself about 15 years ago. I owned about 11 Scorpio Cosworths over the years before moving on to S Class Mercs :)

Controversial, but to me that Scorpio is a beaut. The darkened headlights in the facelift, the spec, the colour, the leather, the engine, the ride. They’re great cars. Defo would have gone for that. I love a left field Ford, this and the Probe

Great vid. The wheels on the escort van are from the Orion Encore special edition from 92/93 ish (sad car knowledge from my younger years!) . Lee from CarUK did a review on this auction too- another interesting van appeared there too 😜

That was fun. I wanted to know about a couple you didn’t cover - that Citroen GS caught my eye - but my pick of your pick was the S-type Jag - like a MkII but with IRS and a bigger boot. And an XK straight six. Bit old-farty, but still. By the way, you were expecting that Volvo 850 to ‘go like stink’. Nope, it’s a good engine and enough for the car, but it’s got well over 150k and it’s dragging a big, boxy Volvo body. The T5 and other mad turbo versions were quick but not this one.

The Jag S Type has a twin overhead cam straight 6 mate, not a V8, although it does look like a V8 at first glance. The Scorpio V6 and Ford ST 170 were brammers. I'm surprised the latter didn't fetch a good price, especially with the one lady owner. Maybe it was Doris Schumacher !

Back in the Early 2000 I had a L reg 106 Really same colour paint and remember the pedals been very small and using the side of my foot to drive but that was 1.3 and you had to keep the revs Up top to keep it Moving

That restored green mini van was the star of the auction but it's too perfect to drive anywhere. The RS2000 was nice but the condition wasn't worth that much money, I'd have the vxr 220, a rare low mileage fun car.

Thought the Vauxhall Vx220 was in great condition think it's definitely a future classic and also loved the MR2. Remember seeing the MR2 on the road in my teens and it looked really cool. Just a shame you need to be a trader to buy cars from auction.

Only paid? I paid a lot less than that for a 2.8i Special, less than 1 year old back in the day. I can't believe the prices these things go for nowadays. A Brooklands 2.8 was less than 12k new!

@@trevdean540 I had a very good, well paid job. Believe it not these weren't cheap cars (the 2.8) then. Very high insurance, (I think I was paying around £800 a year in the 80's, that was a lot of money then) It supped juice like a demented alchi (less than 20mpg). As I said, I can't believe what these are going for hence the 'only' paid. £8200 for for only an 'S' too. These were probably around six grand new. Whereas one bought now has plates welded everywhere and heaping helpings of filler dolloped everywhere and lots of nasty surprises hidden away. They do have, and you know it. Unbelievable.

Great question! The fees are based of the hammer price. 8% + VAT, meaning higher the hammer price, higher the fees 😎👍🏻
