Man you really need to make a mission for cleaning up the underside of the Mk2. Wire brush as much as possible and wax oil it

Man i know those feelings. I have new pistons and rings that gotta go in my vr6 but when its 11 degrees out with a non heated garage im done for the year lol.

Header be cool. But nah.. just Run a 2inch or 2.25 pipe from cat back with high flow muffler/reasonator at the mid to end section.. you will prob needs some new piping anyway. Difficult to weld new metal to existing rusted metal... It will sound good and free up few hp.. Ive done this to handful of 8v ... Sounds good all around n pulls way better above 2- 3k rpm.

There’s various adaptors for speedometer cables sold, it’s basically a coupler you need.

that exhaust with the headers does sound pretty good if you go that route. just plan to take the intake off it's much easier that way. (also a cam +headers wakes the 8v up a good bit
