Maq, I love that you just take things 1 step at a time and show all the steps. I’m no mechanic but I’ve done some big projects (like a manual swap I’m in the middle of) on the mk4 and I can appreciate all the work you put into filming it all. When I get stuck sometimes, your videos have been helpful getting me back on track. I think it’s just your chill talking yourself through it that is so helpful… all that to say: keep it up bro! Cheers! 🤙🏽

Love your videos, buddy. I've owned an 03 Mk4 for about 15 years and it's just starting to show its age. Lots of little things wearing out or rusting out. I dread to think how much I've spent on it. But i dont have the heart to get rid of it....yet. Your videos have proven very useful in recent months. Thank you.

Hey Maq, i just wanted to give you a big thank you for these videos. I just put my tranny back in my beetle and it wasnt too bad. I have an engine support from the top and used one of those airbag jacks under rhe tranny and it worked great. Just got the starter back in so i figured that is a good stopping place so i can sleep (I'm a night shifter so all of this work is being done at night). Your videos gave me the confidence to do this myself. Even though im not done yet i am excited. I cant wait to be getting 50 mpg again.

Well I've driven 600 miles since the clutch install and everything is great! Shifts better than when it was new. The LUK clutch rep set is awesome. Pedal is much lighter and engagement is almost as smooth as an automatic. My grinding issues are gone and my mpg are back up to 50.

@@MaqsVids Not a huge deal since you know how to remove the transmission and get to it again if necessary. I would be saying something different if you were paying a mechanic and didn't want to do it just to save about $20 for the seal. I always enjoy your videos. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the vid. I have a VW Golf Mk4 - it is now not shifting into 4th gear & seems a little slow when taking off. There is no kick down. I have tried resetting it - with the accelerator down & key off etc. That did work for a while but now doesn't reset it. - is this a clutch replacement job?
@MaqsVids6 ай бұрын
I have not worked on many automatic transmissions. But, the first thing I would check is the transmission fluid level. Also, look into any service that can be done on it. Usually it's replacing the fluid and filter. Good luck.

a Question: WHY replace the Flywheel? it appeared to be okay (no teeth ground down or damaged)
@rogerbowles54806 ай бұрын
because it is a dual mass flywheel and the flywheel needs to be the same make as th clutch you cant have sachs cltuch on a luk flywheel . it s alot of work to remove it just to change the flywheel so might as well do it whilst its off

My m18 batterys in my impact at work so I can’t use my 3/4 impact on the flywheel :( it’s almost 9:30 am on a saturday and I think I can have it torn down and tranny out by 10pm if I don’t have to drive to Home Depot to get 17 different sockets 😂

I should be able to use a breaker bar to hold the crank pulley like when you torqued the new tripple square ones in so I don’t need my impact. It’ll take a couple more minutes but saves me $200 on buying another battery 😂

It broke my heart the way you let the engine hanging on the side. Do you know it was just hanging on one engine mount? That was a very very big mistake. Do watch some videos before you make a video. Otherwise it was good detailed video
@MaqsVids Жыл бұрын
I won't break your heart again 😉 I meant to let it sag(it helped with clearance) but I didn't mean to let it sit unsupported like that. I was tired and had on blinders. Big mistake. When I stepped away and came back it shook me a bit. That's when I put the jack and board under it. I had them sitting there for that the whole time. Side note, because of the trans mount, I decided to get all Black Forrest Industries motor mounts. They will be going on in the next video. And, yes I knew the only thing left holding it was the motor mount 🫣
