Mk4 GTi Cluster Install SWAP! | Upgrade!

Instrument cluster swaps are at times difficult, but literally 2 screws and 2 clips, then this cluster is removed! So easy, and super nice upgrade this cluster adds to my GTi interior.
Now I have time figure out the immobilizer issue WITHOUT having VAGCOM or VCDS....Hope you enjoy the video

Something you can do is swap in a Golf 4 1.8T engine tune it little by little and you can have a nice car instead of a polo engine which consumes oil a lot and struggles

Just swap the gauge faces! That way you don’t have to get it programmed to the car including the mileage!

The left button that turns is for your cluster clock, left is hr and right is mins,

The left knob will change the time, but it's a pain to deal with

I believe the faces of the clusters are exactly the same. You should be able to swap those and not have to deal with the immobilizer adaptation. (Correct me if I am wrong. I wanna do this but instead with the R32 cluster faces)

Noober62 I know the plastic protector will swap over, but the faces may not go over without adaptation. I’ve never tried that so I don’t know.

I've got rings for mine , but it hit me if I should do some other faces too. I like the reverse color flip style ,black on white, and I like the upgrade shown here. Haha what a dilemma. I'm going to at least throw the rings in for now.

Bruh did you drive a Suzuki Swift in a former life, Lol. It's a Volkswagen Mark 4, of course it has an immo and as such you'll need the ECU reprogrammed, blah blah blah. But hey, it is the perfect excuse to go BT with a custom 500whp stage 4 remap, which is the perfect excuse for Porsche brakes, which is the perfect excuse for a full engine rebuild with oversized pistons, ah hell might as well stroke it to 2 liters while you are there. Which is the perfect time to upgrade to a sequential shifter with an AWD conversion................and that my friend is the perfect time to realize, you're broke for the next 20 years, all because of your Volkswagen immobilizer, Lol.

The immobilizer is built into the instruments cluster on the golf mk4. So, whenever you swap a cluster, you need to register your keys in the new cluster (there is a little pill inside the key, that transmits a number via RF). Or you need the keys that were registered into that new cluster, and put these pills into your own keys, that fit your lock. The problem is, that in order to register new keys, you need a pin code that is given to you, when you buy the car new. (The pin is used, so no ramdom person can register a key and drive away with your car). On some golf mk4 clusters, you can read out the code. On some, you can only crack it by trying out codes, which takes so long that it is not worth it.

i have the same problem i bought a new watch for the car but when i assemble it the car doesn't start just like you bought it on ebay me the year given without a key when i sent him the email i said he doesn't need it just goes reprogrammed by a blacksmith but as I called 3/4 nobody wants to do it a mechanic asked me for 90pound and told me that there is no certainty that I can do it

Yeah the immobilizer in the key isn’t registering the cluster. Needs to be reprogrammed.

Just waiting for the right time to get it flashed. You can get IMMO Delete tunes, or replacements. I’m just going to wait until its road worthy and drive it to a shop here in FL and have them program the mileage and immo defeat at the same time. Someone said you can pull the immobilizer chip out and it’ll let you run the car without shitting off.
