could have taken both clusters apart, swap out Speedometer, RPM, Temp and Gas overlays and dial indicators arms. after putting arms back one wind backwards about 3 or so times adjusting all 4 dials back to zero. this would have fixed both problems of gages bouncing and car not cranking because you would still be using original cluster and by winding and reseting to zero you've recalibrate spring and it's free. I found this out on my jetta doing the same gage swap

What if just swap the eeprom ic chip from old cluster to new cluster Immo and mileage both in the chip

What programming company did you use? To reprogram the ECU? 2nd ? : just asking for knowledge, if I changed out the 3 pieces of ECU & Cluster & key ingintion ( that goes w/ ECU and Cluster) all should work properly?

I'm trying to figure out the same. I'm looking at a mk4 Jetta that's having immobilizer issues and I've got a mk4 gti with the key, switch, cluster and ecu I could use just dont know if it would work. Both are 1.8t and 5 speed

@@theSICKNESS2300 My understanding is that it should work. For the New ECU , you may need to reprogram some othet modules such as ABS and etc. To reduce this reprogramming the donor (car) parts must be as close uou can to original date of Orginal OEM ECU. Please advise if it works for you and reply.

Bro, I have a Mk4 1.8t, it was Automatic Transmission but a friend of mine swapped it to a Manual one but he could not make the speedometer to work :( what's the problem? He used a different Ecu to make my car Standard.

If I've got the cluster, ecu, key and switch can I swap everything and it work or no? Looking a mk4 Jetta 1.8t and its having immobilizer issues and I've got a mk4 1.8t golf with everything I can use for the swap

In theory that should work. I believe the ECU still have to be flashed to that VIN tho, maybe I am wrong there.

No I sent the ECU and cluster to a guy up north who an do it.

Get a Chinese vag tacho cable from eBay and do it yourself

mathjuk They are not reliable. Hit or miss. I’d rather have ease of mind knowing its done correctly.

@@MK6Guy I coded the exact same clocks to my car using a genuine vagcom cable to code in the clocks and a Chinese vag tacho cable to do the milage and extract the pin
