MK4 GTI Gets another cluster upgrade! Colour FMA FIS. Eeprom changes & Immo key pairing overview.

In this video I found a really awesome cluster courtesy of Jase from our lovely MKIV Australia group 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
The cluster was from an R32 MK4 and needed some mods to work correctly.
2 issues I faced when installing was the oil level and temp not being found so it threw a gigantic error at me and an annoying immo light that flashes non stop.
Tools I used to resolve this was:
A KKL 409.1 cable to read and write eeprom flash file. eBay has it for pretty cheap.
An Eeeprom editor found it online for free and remains
free.
Dash dump editor a free Russian tool which is awesome! search it up and read properly.
To fix the immo I used the KKL 409.1 cable to read the cluster and obtain the 4 digit code for immo adaptation.
An AliExpress Vcds hex cable to perform Immo3 adaptation in vcds using the 4 digit code.

@@ajrveedub my immo is also off on the ecu and want to change from immo2 to immo3 cluster isnt it easier to just screw open the cluster and put some tape over the immo light ?

How did you do the key adaptation for the immobilizer ? or it did it by itself when you started the car ?

No you need to adapt the keys using coding. I'll do a video on it :)

Cheers from syd, excuse my stupidity, but how does one clear a air bag code after messing with the cluster, putting that shitty chrome trim on and not disconnecting the battery? Will super cheap diagnostic tool (obd2) work on vw? To clear codes? Or u need a euro style one? Thanx

Hi there! Thanks!! Unfortunately you need a decent scan tool that reads other modules. A cheap one will only scan some of the ecu codes. I recommend vcds or similar to be able to read VW modules and clearing it.

So is there a way to code the dash immob to the original key when doing a cluster swap, or is it just a case of disabling the immob? *Edit* just got to that bit in the video lol

Hello again, i have agu like yours, now it is immo off, i bought a cluster with half screen, also a bracket at the right of steering wheel, i made the connections to have access in the menu but it isn't working, i can see only time working engine and outside air temp. Maybe the bracket isn't the right, so i wanted to ask if you the the serial number of the right bracket on order to see if i have the wrong. Also which program you used to delete the oil temp/level indicator? Thank you a lot!

Hi there! I used eeprom reader to get the cluster file, then I used dashdumpedit to modify the file to delete oil temp and level from the cluster.

Hi, I used vag commander to obtain the pin number from the clusters and VCDS to code it in the car. You need the KKL409.1 cable I believe from memory

@@abesanchez1985 for this I used combination of 2 cables. Hex can cable for vcds and the cheaper 409.1 blue cable.
