I hope you enjoyed the video! Comment below what DV valve you guys are using and what one you've found best. The video shows my experience, let me know what you guys think, I know a lot of people run the Rev D with no problems. *UPDATE* The loose connector was causing the turbo flutter (compressor surge). The rev g doesn't cause flutter as the video shows on the final motorway run, it must've loosened off by that point.

I just put genuine GFB DV+ in my Mk5 and never looked back. Sure, I need to lube it every now and then, but that's done anyway at the same time when I change oils, so it's no biggie. It's awesome :) Soon I'll be doing stage 2 for my Mk5 so should work well with that too. No more thinking if seals or plastics crack on those stock DVs.
@HimiJ3 жыл бұрын
You are right, stock DVs are a nightmare, I'm hoping the RevG lasts on mine or might have to look into the DV+ (this is the second comment that's mentioned it). Good luck with stage 2 💪🏽

@@HimiJ Thanks. Yeah worth checking it out. Many suggested in Facebooks GTI Mk5 group and the install was just as easy as any DV replacement (obviously) and it does feel more responsive, even if only ever so slightly. But the main thing was that it's supposed to be pretty much bullet proof when maintained. If you're going to get one, make sure it's the genuine one and not one of those replicas Ebay is littered with. I ordered mine straight from GFB website to be sure :D
@laurentl22753 жыл бұрын
Even the GFB DV you have to service from time to time... The D are stronger but leak air. The G feels better but will eventually break especially if you are tuned.

What happen if install Rev G with DV+? Is it even better throttle response?
@isaacnewman6043 жыл бұрын
Hi mate been following the channel for a while now, was just wondering as your car is stage 2 and manual do you get any slip from the clutch, as it's running almost 100 FT-LB of torque more than stock.
@HimiJ3 жыл бұрын
Right now I don't have any slip, pretty sure it's the stock clutch on 110k miles was standard most of its life. I've read up a bit on the clutch on "TFSI Tuning" on facebook, it seems to be a bit luck tbh. Some people get clutch slip running around 300 ft lbs and others are running say 340 ft lbs with no problems 🤷🏽♂️. Clutch is what's holding me back from going to stage 2+ as it is expensive to get done.

Any thoughts on the GFB piston that bolts onto the solenoid?
@HimiJ3 жыл бұрын
Not used one so don't have any personal experience. From what I've read it's a split, some people love them while others don't (from posts on TFSI tuning). There's various reasons on either side of the argument, I'd say just find whatever one works best for your car. Personally I lean towards the RevG given the price and it being an oem part, but that being said I'd invest in a GFB if I found my car kept splitting RevGs. Another KZbinr "North Coast Workshop" fitted one to replace his RevD, could be worth checking his video out.
@amg8633 жыл бұрын
@@HimiJ mine is probably faulty so I got it booked at the garage next week. I'm wondering if I should order a GFB valve or not. Like you said I'm tempted of just leaving it as it is and order a GFB if I split the new one. Do you know if you have to ask for the G revision or is that the only one they stock at Volkswagen nowadays?
@HimiJ3 жыл бұрын
The confusing thing is I don't think Volkswagen stock the RevG, when I first got my car I went to Volkswagen and asked for the latest DV and they gave me a RevD (this was 2018). Coverdale is a good place to buy a RevG, awesomeGTI is another option but they charge a lot for postage: www.coverdalecarparts.co.uk/product-page/rev-g-dv-06f145710g If your cars stock I'd say just go with the RevG, it shouldn't split again for a long time on a stock car. Completely up to you what to go for, good luck!
@amg8633 жыл бұрын
@@HimiJ my car is stock at the moment but I'm planning on going for a stage 1 remap once that's all fixed up. That's lucky I asked you what they stock at the dealer because I was just going to drop it off and let the garage sort it out. Now I'm going to have to make some calls to get the right part on time. Are you still on standard brakes? My car is standard and I feel like the brakes aren't very good. I'm wondering what it'll feel like with more power. To be fair I have an A3 quattro so maybe a little heavier than your car
@HimiJ3 жыл бұрын
Yes I'm still on standard brakes, I agree they aren't the best, once tuned ideally you do want to upgrade your brakes but they are fine for day to day road use. I'm sure Mk7 Golf R brakes and Mk7 GTI performance pack brakes fit across VAG cars as an upgrade. Could be worth getting your brakes bled, they're meant to be done every two years.

@danielbennett73993 жыл бұрын
@@HimiJ I’m not too sure if it’s tuned when I first put it on it pulled well now between 2k to 3k revs it’s like air is escaping sounds good when shifting but the boost leak is killing the power low down
@HimiJ3 жыл бұрын
Sounds exactly what the rev d was doing to mine, air escaping low down, complete nightmare these DVs
@laurentl22753 жыл бұрын
They all fail. Rev G is more suitable on K03 it gives slightly better performance, on K04 I would suggest rev D as it is stronger than all diagphram valves. All dv valve would eventually fail not only because the tune but also on stock map due to their location on the turbo, it is getting really hot there. If you remove passenger wheel, wheel liner it is easier to work on them.
