Useful video, I think it's important to add not to pinch the plastic rod. It's designed to rotate with the pedal action, so plenty thin dry lube is a good idea. But the collar will stop the lateral movement that breaks it. Great idea I've ordered one.

Yeah nice one Ted very useful content.. When my fez was delivered it had the plastic arm or rod in the footwell.. i didnt know what it was until i tried to use use clutch pedal and it went straight to the floor. Needless to say replacing the clutch master cylinder is an absolute pain the ass. Its super fiddly.. honestly if you dont have this stopper clip. Dont delay it just get it done. Save yourself the extra trouble.👍👍🔥

Great video, it steered me into the right direction. The eBay parts are standard components. The ring with the setscrew is DIN 703 or DIN 705A with an 8mm hole. Any M8 ring should work fine. I had some laying around at work. This issue led to a leaking master cylinder in my Mazda 2. Hopefully by re-centering the piston with this fix, the leak is dealt with as well (small chance). Otherwise i'll have to go to a garage.

I'm definitely going to buy one of these. Wife has a 07 plate and her linkage came off exactly as you showed it could. Luckily she had just driven into our road a stone's from from the house when the bugger came off ! Phew !

Luckily it didn’t snap the master cylinder as that’s what usually happens when they come off

The master cylinder part that attaches to the clutch pedal came off on my fiesta when I was on the motorway.... temporarily secured it with a zip tie

Stumbled on this video while looking for something else. I have a clapped out 2003 Fiesta and I've just checked mine. Where the clip should be someone has wrapped some masking tape around it. I've had this car for almost 10 years with it like that!

Thanks for the video Ted, I'd heard about this issue on the Mk6, I'll have to take a look at mine at some point, had it 8 years and it's coming up to 100k. Making the linkage out of plastic seems a bit weird for a part that gets so much use?

If it is the bushing on the pivot nut which are worn and you reduce the amount of lateral motion the linkage has won't that just mean more lateral force on the master cylinder's rod?

There no bushes on there it literally just a piece of plastic held on by a clip that always falls off so you just replace it with one that doesn’t. this doesn’t change no movement it’s not that technical I’ve got my one on to this day and it’s still good

Just use a small jubilee clip . Bit easier than getting a collar to fit ?

this happened to me today in traffic in fiesta 2007, clutch gone, straight to floor. AA came and I need this kit. There was also water or fluid all leaked out at same time. Forgot to ask AA, but do you think its from the same issue?

Yes this would have caused it sounds like you’re going to have to change the clutch master if it’s all leaked out aswell unfortunately
