I have the same problem but I’m struggling to work out which door isn’t closing correctly is there a way of narrowing it down to the correct door?

@@davolved5521 mainly a case of opening and closing either door and seeing if the issue stops that’s what I used to do

@@6uiltdifferent I thought I would put this here incase anyone else has the same problem. I’ve figured it out you need to enter service mode then open and close each door and listen for the indication to come on to confirm the door has shut correctly I will paste the instructions I followed below Activate service mode Proceed as follows to activate service mode: • OPERATE the switch of the heated rear window and HOLD IT THERE • Turn on the ignition. • RELEASE the switch of the heated rear window • PRESS the heated rear window switch 8 times within 6 seconds A signal sounds and the direction indicator lamps come on to indicate that service mode has been successfully activated. • NOTE: If the alarm sounds (in vehicles fitted with an anti-theft alarm system), service mode cannot be activated. For reference I have a 2002 ghia 1.6 and I don’t have a digital dash so there’s no way of seeing which door is stuck open. I’ve ordered a new lock assembly and fingers crossed all goes well NOTE: the door ajar has to be actively in fault for you to narrow down which door it is so it may be worth writing down the service mode instructions and placing them inside your car.

It’s the micro switch on the door lock module. Very common on these and the exact same on Passat b5.5. The micro switch fails and gives door open faults when it fully closed. It’s a micro switch on a cam relating to lock position.

@@Ferretfanatic69 that or the door looms I did a lock when I bought the car, but found more issues down the line and saw the loom had been repaired previously multiple times so I replaced the loom with a new one and it has been ok

Thanks for the video. I had 3 Fiestas and now i have a Fusion, Its an annoying problem on this cars. Most of the time its the microswitch integrated in the door lock. If you change the lock with a used one it can have the same problem. Easy fix is to cut the signal cable behind the instrument cluster, and disableing the feature, but than you have the problem that the cars locks itself after 60 seconds with no ingnition on, because it thinks no door is opened, so than you can lock your key inside the car.

No problem bud and yeah I thought of doing away with it but I didn’t want to risk locking the keys inside of it so I’m going to probably fit a brand new lock which isn’t going to be cheap

My problem is that its intermitting. Always when I have the time it doesnt act up. Also it can be the wiring in the door hinge. Im gonna write some info about the wiring colors.

I don't get any door open error on the dash (Ghia 2006). When i push the driver's side handle inwards inside the car i hear the central locking trying the doors but no sound on the passenger side. Anything else i should do before i attempt your repair?

@@mancmackem nothing I can think of if I’m honest mate I’d take a little look and see if you can see broken wires I’m the door panel it’s so common on these

Yes mate I had this issue myself when I bought the car repaired the wiring but it came back after a while so got a new loom

It did for a while but it’s started playing up again I think the locks knackered

Did this fix the problem for you in the end - I've had the same issue for years, intermittent. Sometimes it closes fine, door open light is off, othertimes it takes 4 or 5 attempts to shut the door without the warning.

It did for a while now it’s starting to play up again so I think the microswitches in the lock have failed

i changed my relay, tested the original and the voltage was low, all good now, drivers door locks and unlocks with the key fob.

Hi mate I’ve got a 1.6 zetec s tdci and since I have owned it I’ve had problems with the passenger door saying it’s not shut and the interior dome light stays so I have to keep opening and shutting the door until it finally goes, Some times it’s fine other times it’s a pain. It also doesn’t want to lock sometimes because of it and I’ve noticed I have to keep pressing my key loads to unlock/ lock it, do you reckon I have the same problem as you did mate ?

@@Sam-jr3bj no worries and I’d pull it apart and have a look the wiring normally chafes against the window causing it to break this could have happened and the lock has micro switches so it can tell the body control module when it is closed if these are worn it won’t be able to detect if the doors closed or not

Hey friend, I've also noticed a problem when I close the driver's side door from the inside. The passenger door doesn't close properly randomly; I have to insist, and it eventually closes after a while, although I sometimes hear the passenger side motor. However, when I use the key, the doors always close without any issues, and I can't understand why it works randomly from the inside but works perfectly with my keys. Do you have any idea ? it's a fiesta 2007 S (my first car ! :D) Thanks for everything, my friend ! :)

I’d check all your connections and earths to do with that look might have a green out wire somewhere if it’s intermittent it probably happens more on colder damper days instead of a hot sunny day?

@@6uiltdifferent Unfortunately, whether it's hot or cold, it doesn't work perfectly. I've also noticed that when I insist, I get a flash of the hazard lights on the dashboard. I wonder if there might be a "drivers door only" option that could be causing a glitch, i can't remember the procedure to activate/deactivate it ? Thank you for the response :)

My 1.25 does that... Sometimes its open all doors . Close 10 times before central lock works ... Normally when im in sainsburys car park..

It’s annoying isn’t it amount of times I’d have to open and close the door to get it working note the lock could be knackered if the wires aren’t broken as I did the lock when I first bought it

Hi! You're my salvation.. thank to you i have seen the connection mode between the door and the motor bay, a bad new for you: the problem can be easily fix in 1 minute by disconnecting - reconnecting 2-3 times the door connector after a wide dry deoxy spray wetting..
