@TheGreenS4Channel3 жыл бұрын
Good god do not add the TCR muffler if you want it to be quieter. TCR muffler + 034 catted DP with stock res was LOUD. I later found out the TCR exhaust is basically 90 percent of a straight pipe. You’ll also have quite a bit of drone.

Are cars like the GTI, R, S3, RS3 etcs popular in the US? They're massive here in the UK but in the US, I'm not so sure what the car scene is like.
@joeyn1772 жыл бұрын
It depends where in the US but the GTI is pretty popular. Living around LA and San Francisco I see GTIs, Focus STs, and CIvic Type Rs pretty frequently. Pretty sure sedans and coupes are still more popular though. See lots of M3/3 series, G35/37, 350/370z, miatas, WRX, 86 twins, mustangs, challengers, etc. The only new hot hatches being sold here are the GTI/R, Civic type R, and the upcoming GR Corolla. Veloster N is getting cancelled next year and the rest are gone already. I don't see RS3s much though. Audi only sells the sedan version here and people probably buy the supra or M2 instead.
@osprey24993 жыл бұрын
I wish I wanted to keep my GTI enough at this point to still consider an exhaust. I bought some mods and then I started having issues left and right before I even got them all installed. It's a fun car, but seriously after a simple brakejob the car now has a squeal that comes from the rear left? Bought the rotors and pads from FCP Euro and only one side makes noise. Oh and a shop claims that one of my calipers is leaking from the boot. Although when I stopped in to my VW dealership they said it was fine.
@TheGreenS4Channel3 жыл бұрын
Jake - install anti squeal paste on the pads like CRC Brake Quiet, that will reduce the squealing or eliminate it entirely. Sporty pads will have some minor squeal. Which pads did you buy? Personally I ran the Ferodo DS2500 and found the squeal to be bearable since I loved the way those pads felt. also make sure you properly bed in the pads. If your GTI caliper is leaking from the boot that is a very simple rebuild with a gasket. I would recommend either getting a second opinion from the dealer or asking the shop to check on it again. It should be obvious. GTIs are great cars, and everything has some minor problems. My MK7.5 needed a new intake manifold at 950 miles which was done under warranty, but after that had no issues for the next 15k. My MK6 never had serious problems until I had to drop a few hundred on an O2 sensor after putting 50k miles on it.

@kinnstreamz11 ай бұрын
Don’t do a muffler delete with a down pipe. Just had it done on my car and it’s WAY too loud, drones way too much and loud does not mean it sounds good. Gets super raspy above 3000rpm. I suggest a aftermarket catback with a downpipe or a downpipe with stock exhaust. Go with a new catback for better air flow. These 4 cylinder engines are not meant to be stupid loud, so I highly suggest you don’t do a muffler delete with a downpipe

Catted 034 downpipe, stock resonator. I like it a lot, i'm giving it a month or two to decide if it's too loud. One of the experts on the GOLFMK7 forum explained to me that the TCR exhaust is "basically a straight pipe" which explains why it's so loud with an aftermarket muffler.

@@justingerard262 that’s what I’ve been trying to research and find out. Some have claimed regardless of tune/exhaust set up dsg darts are not possible with the new 7 speed but I guess it’s not entirely true ? How is the 034 down pipe working for you in terms of general cabin drone?
@justingerard2624 жыл бұрын
@@Redk00laid I find the drone on the 034 DP to be extremely minimal if nonexistent. Not remotely bad for a long drive. With the exhaust it was definitely there. The DSG farts on the 7 speed with stage 2 are definitely less pronounced than on a 6, but to an extent I’m told that’s because the transmission is set up differently ie it’s hard to re-tune back in. But you’ll recognize them as Dsg farts
