I had this turbo on my Audi TTS, full forged engine with 95oct and WMI. I was pushing 2.8bar(40-41psi) and it lasted 2 weeks. My 100-200kph time was 6.1secs. I assume around 600hp bc now I'm on a different turbo setup pushing 575hp on the dyno with the same boost resulting 100-200kph time of 6.5sec. Based on my observation Typhoon looks like a garrett 3076 core with custom housings and hybridised? turbine. I dont get how people manage to be so happy with the product. I also managed to destroy the vortex xl with the same setup after 4-5 months at 34-35psi. Dyno result was 508hp 612tq with vortex xl
@eqtuning2 ай бұрын
That’s a very unusual result… these turbos have proven to withstand a ton of abuse at 40-45psi. But as with anything, you have to make sure the rest of the setup and the tune are done properly. For reference, the Typhoon uses a G30 turbine wheel with a custom compressor designed specifically to be efficient at these boost levels while keeping the shaft speeds reasonable. The fact you were only doing a 6.1 100-200 at over 40psi signals an issue with your setup or tune. You either had a major restriction or were pushing things too hard for your octane levels. Both of these variables can quickly over stress any turbo.

@anthonysharpe51042 ай бұрын
As a purely personal interest. I’m in Australia. I have a 2016 Golf Alltrack and yes I know they have been done to death elsewhere. My car has an IS38 with a Golf R downpipe and full Golf R wagon exhaust. Other than an inlet elbow and a K&N panel filter it just has a tune from an Australian crowd called Underground Performance based in Melbourne. It hasn’t been on a dyno. It feels reasonably quick but am I expecting too much for it to be as good as a standard Golf R wagon? Also do you think I would get a noticeable bump by upgrading the intercooler and getting a tune on a dyno? I live in Queensland which generally is hotter than Victoria. Final question. Would I gain much by going to a larger downpipe? Maybe you don’t have to address my specific issues but perhaps a general discussion on this platform would interest others. I’ve been following you guys for years and I recall the first video that I watched was the one where you upgraded the turbo on a Mk7 Golf 1.8t.

I have a question: Did I notice on this specific Golf R, in a previous video, that you guys installed the Clutch Masters hydraulic tob/slave? If so, do you think this is a worthy piece of equipment to install over the OEM style tob/slave? I’m asking because I will be building the motor in my MK7 GTI 6spd in the future to make more power, and I’ve been through 5 aftermarket clutches on my car (I am IS38 WMI). 4 had to be replaced from premature tob/slave failures (all using SMF). So now I’m running a Sachs Performance clutch kit w/DMF, which I’m hoping lasts a lot longer as this car is my daily. I have wondered if I should get the Clutch Masters hydraulic tob/slave, but nobody has written anything or made any videos regarding it. I’m wondering if it will be a part that will be reliable for many miles. I’m hesitant to go back to a SMF setup because of the weak design of the OEM tob/slave.
