Watch out if you end up doing a down pipe as well. I did only a catted DP from MAPerformance and kept stock catback/res and was really surprised with how much louder it was than stock. Would highly suggest MAP for DP if/when you start looking. very nice quality pipe and easy install. Larger tips look so much better..

Did the same to my GTI except I went stainless mandrel bent and Tig welded. The drone in the cabin is a bit much around 3200 rpm, going to change out the factory resonator for a Vibrant super quiet with a Vibrant street performance muffler which will make the sound just right when I do my catless down pipe. I've heard this combo on another GTI and it sounds hella sick.

First time I heard muff delete being illegal lol I had it done a few months in after getting the GTI. It’s a common thing a lot of people do here in Texas along with res delete

@@tripx6727 all depends where you go. Can be $30-100 but you get what you pay for in some places. You’ll have ugly welds and not even a straight Y pipe. If I could do it again I’d just save the money and get a downpipe instead

I suggest keeping the resonator and deleting the muffler. If you don’t like it you can always throw on an aftermarket muffler

Hi, i just did the same for my car... The situation it´s now i fell some of backpressure at low speeds, the revs takes a lot to decrease from 2000 to 1000 in the traffic... did you feel something like that? Thanks for the answer.

I gotta admit, I never want to do any exhaust stuff with my GTI because it's just so obvious when you're being a hoon. I don't want the attention when I'm flying around town, cops are already looking for a reason to pull people over for bullshit tickets.

Biggest mistake was letting him MIG weld it. There are ways to to the exhaust without cutting the muffler, like a downpipe or replacing the exhaust from the clamp back.

I did the adapter on my MK7 GLI (same EA888 motor) and no loss of performance whatsoever. The ECU is not metered so venting to the atmosphere in this way (although split) has no ill effect.

From the Video under the car i take your gti has the OPF and that kills a lot of the sound and you should get it removed aswell

ah yes... if your car is leased doing big mods are pretty much not worth it, unless you plan to buy it after your lease, but! most of my videos are mods that can be easily undone (besides this one) that you can do on a lease car! You should check out my BOV adapter video, its very easy to do, and easy to take out. Or just get the res delete. ^_^

Turbo smart bov sounds way better in my opinion... you should have a look at it... it full flutters

You don’t want flutter on a BPV or BOV. It can cause turbo surge and is a sign the spring rating isn’t appropriate.

Lars S3 For what purpose? It's a 2.5" pipe splitting into what looks like two 2.5" pipes. The bends being slightly distorted isn't going to affect anything. They're not even bad, this is how 99% of oem exhausts are built.
