Great looking car - it looks brand new, even though a2015. That is what's great about GTI - their styling is mostly timeless, unlike all the other Japanese hatchbacks out there which look ridiculous by the time the warranty has expired.

Modded nearly every car I owned. Bought a 2018 GTI last October. Leaving it stock. Now that I'm 34 I view cars a little differently. I have probably would have saved over $100k if I had kept the same car the last 15 years. So I will be doing that with the GTI. For the price I paid, it's a bargain in style, practicality, and performance. I want it to last 200k+ miles.

I have a 2018 as well, Autobahn trim 6 speed had aftermarket exhaust and coilovers (sits 1.5 inches lower) when I bought it. Added a rear wing put snow tires on my stock wheels and buying some wheels for my summer tires. I want to add more power to my car but after watching the hell my buddy has gone through with his STI I'm perfectly fine where I sit at with power and just focusing on cosmetic lol. Hope the car is still treating you well

Another thing to consider is that aftermarket cat backs only provides marginal gains, if any. Replace the downpipe first which will produce more power (especially with tune) and will change the sound of the exhaust without being too loud.

@@devn3813 You've clearly never owned a GTI. Even stage 1 you can put your power down just fine below 90. If it's wet and you have snow tires enjoy spinning on the highway in 5th but as soon as you're away from the line you can haul from 20+ if you're used to the car. I went from a MK6 to a MK7 so I learned what not to do on the MK6 at the expense of a good number of tires. With the MK7 I can actually get 2 summers out of a pair of summer tires although I'm trying to finish these off so that I can get larger rims with the same tire.

Great video. And you are correct on all of your points. Most of the time aftermarket intakes do nothing but empty your wallet and do not increase performance. Aftermarket exhausts usually do have a droning effect which ruins the car ride and sounds very annoying too. As for the 19 inch wheels, they are too big for your car and do not make the car drive better, if anything they make it drive worse. Your car would look and drive much better with 17's with a taller sidewall tire, stock exhaust and stock intake. Be wary about lowering your future car as that can also create its own set of problems too. Takeaway lesson here is that most mods ruin what used to be a good car.
@vroomgc
@vroomgc 4 жыл бұрын
I disagree on the 17's unless your looking for comfort only but for cornering and overall ride the 18's are the best bet for the gti. I have 19's which are good for cornering but not a good choice for comfort and are a bit heavier too.
@bigmacdaddy1234
@bigmacdaddy1234 4 жыл бұрын
@@vroomgc Actually, it's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact. 17's are better for the GTI in every category. They will provide more comfort, better cornering, superior load rating and a better overall ride. Larger wheels are heavier, reduce performance and erode fuel economy. These are the facts, whether you agree or not.
@vroomgc

@@bigmacdaddy1234 Ok I guess its your facts against my 'opinion' :-) ... oh wait you mean there are some real facts to look at instead. I’m keeping my stock wheels on, I’m not feeling any of the aftermarket wheels even though some from rotiform and Rohanna are nice. I don’t entirely regret the apr intake, but knowing what I know now I’d go a different route. Modding can be difficult because there is regret and wonder what could be different. Still fun though.

If you're gonna buy a cone filter.. and not map your car.. you ain't gonna get or notice any serious gains.. You will gain induction roar on a N/A engine.. and turbo spooling noise on a turbo car.. but you will end up losing power.. as it sucks in hot air from under the bonnet.. Its way better to keep the stock oem air box which has a cold air feed.. and drop in a K&N panel filter or any other panel filter that allows your engine to breath more freely.. you won't lose any power from doing that.. but you will notice your car throttle to be a bit more lively..

I think You start wrong way tune Your GTi. First step is downpipe!!! 2 intercooler !!!3/4 intake/ catback. Last 2 doesn't matter what first. I did like this and I really 🥳🥳😁

Did you ever had a problem during winter or snow for the GTi? because its front wheel drive? and please what is exact size of you tires?
@K03sport
@K03sport 4 жыл бұрын
... For me in my 04 gti, it depends on the (type of) snow and the driver. I survived Denver and dayton winters for 15 years on various all seasons (Michelin mxm4, 2x PS AS3). If you have deep snow, slushy snow, frequent ice, dedicated winters are beneficial. Frankly, the ESP is good enough that all weather tires like Nokia wrg4 will get you anywhere you need to be; just don't overdrive the tire (not invisible) and don't be stupid.

SO,...If you were just going to do a downpipe and nothing more what kind of down pipe would it be? and would it be with a resonator or not? I drive to Florida from NC 4 or 5 times a year (12 hours) and I don't want my ears ringing for days afterwards.

Hi . I live in Australia and have a Golf R had it remapped a with APR. dont complain about the prices of apr parts because here they take the piss.i have just got a price this week for an intercooler.$1800 plus $1000 fitting. $1200 for the air intake.and i have to have the cooling because the average temp here is 90 degrees every day so you may not get the spec. but you cant have everything. nice looking GTI. get an R!,

A.P.R. tune Increased M.P.G. - Down pipe and catback now M.P.G. is worse then stock. Intake messed with boost fluctuation too much so I removed it. With a less restricted filter. Make sure to shop vac the oiled filter before hand to eliminate any Mass air flow issues. Have you looked at the RS7 rims? about the same price range too. Ty for the video. I think the car is ok enough on power now. Not a super lot but enough to keep the smile and the Honda and Mazda v6's away. Unless you bought a automatic 😦 then you will be quicker but with less of a smile.

Most VW dealers pass this kind of stuff... since they see it all the time. So it should pass in NH if you go to one of the dealers.

As long as cats, O2 sensors are in place and no cell, you should be good. Can't say if they measure dBs. If all emissions equipment is there, you have nothing to worry about. i.e. Don't go catless...
