Great video. And you are correct on all of your points. Most of the time aftermarket intakes do nothing but empty your wallet and do not increase performance. Aftermarket exhausts usually do have a droning effect which ruins the car ride and sounds very annoying too. As for the 19 inch wheels, they are too big for your car and do not make the car drive better, if anything they make it drive worse. Your car would look and drive much better with 17's with a taller sidewall tire, stock exhaust and stock intake. Be wary about lowering your future car as that can also create its own set of problems too. Takeaway lesson here is that most mods ruin what used to be a good car.
@vroomgc4 жыл бұрын
I disagree on the 17's unless your looking for comfort only but for cornering and overall ride the 18's are the best bet for the gti. I have 19's which are good for cornering but not a good choice for comfort and are a bit heavier too.
@bigmacdaddy12344 жыл бұрын
@@vroomgc Actually, it's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact. 17's are better for the GTI in every category. They will provide more comfort, better cornering, superior load rating and a better overall ride. Larger wheels are heavier, reduce performance and erode fuel economy. These are the facts, whether you agree or not.

Its way better to keep the stock oem air box which has a cold air feed.. and drop in a K&N panel filter or any other panel filter that allows your engine to breath more freely.. you won't lose any power from doing that.. but you will notice your car throttle to be a bit more lively..

Unless it's engineered specifically and warrantied by VW, it ain't going in my 2019 GTI Autobahn.

Do you remember the size of the tires? I was thinking about getting 19s with a taller tire was to close some gap with my springs.
@NewEnglandPete4 жыл бұрын
not sure. I know they were 225 width though.

Bummer. Ride height is fine. Carbon fiber is expensive. New and shiney isn't always the best. Sucks to be a trend setter/1st. Shout out to AWE in PA.

Thanks for the comment man, AWE is a great option too.

im happy stock. but a dump pipe tune would be only mod
@mightyg63834 жыл бұрын
A.P.R. tune Increased M.P.G. - Down pipe and catback now M.P.G. is worse then stock. Intake messed with boost fluctuation too much so I removed it. With a less restricted filter. Make sure to shop vac the oiled filter before hand to eliminate any Mass air flow issues. Have you looked at the RS7 rims? about the same price range too. Ty for the video. I think the car is ok enough on power now. Not a super lot but enough to keep the smile and the Honda and Mazda v6's away. Unless you bought a automatic 😦 then you will be quicker but with less of a smile.

Yeah apr wants more money when buying their products. They should have sold everything, intake, pipe and elbow.

Great daily driver outta the box I would look for a cheap MKV GTI and build that while enjoying the amazing quality and drive ability of the Golf R because like or not once you start heavily modding any car drive ability goes out the window

Hey quick question I live in the same state and have the same exhaust setup. In NH does the borla cat and a aftermarket downpipe pass emissions and inspection?
@NewEnglandPete4 жыл бұрын
Most VW dealers pass this kind of stuff... since they see it all the time. So it should pass in NH if you go to one of the dealers.
@K03sport4 жыл бұрын
As long as cats, O2 sensors are in place and no cell, you should be good. Can't say if they measure dBs. If all emissions equipment is there, you have nothing to worry about. i.e. Don't go catless...
