I've picked up Jax recently. He's so weak against some characters. The fact that Tyrant can beat a Cage with his Jax is amazing. Look at the pressure sequence at around 8:04. If DJT stayed in crouching during Jax's f4, 1 string, the 1 would wiff, and he'd be able to punish it with a nut punch at least. I run into this all the time - the f413 is Jax's main string, but the 1 whiffs on a lot of characters when they're crouching and it's highly punishable. This makes very hard for Jax to pressure those characters midscreen. Even if you try to mix it up with an overhead, like f4du4, the du4 is so slow that it can be blocked by standing up, and it can probably be punished with a full combo with Cage's b3 launcher for instance. I think DJT just didn't know the matchup. My Jax is decent after three days of practice, but I can't beat even a mediocre Cage, they figure out when to duck out of the pressure very quickly, and I just get punished all day, I can't figure out how to adapt. Does anyone play Jax? I'd be greatful for some tips on how to play these matchups, where the f41 whiffs...

I respect all who main jax...he's not a ez character as some would think, against good players most of them counterpick sticking wit low hitbox characters to beat jax(i poke to death wit mixups usin antiairs til i get em to the corner then its over), and some matchups just annoying to play against. search google jax matchups testyourmight. gt- DatBoiJax hmu bruh

However I do agree, I think REO just didn't have time to prepare for a Cyrax on DJT's level. On the other hand, that might be because he's so used to Cyrax players losing their patience against him (full screen nets, predictable use of command grab, terrible meter management awareness, counterpicking with characters they have no idea how to use at high level etc.). But sadly I don't think we'll ever know the true extent of the matchup since MK most likely won't be at EVO again.

He has a little more than just an 80% reset that redeems him as a playable character. great footsies and pokes (d1 ragdoll, d3 ragdoll, d1 saw, d3 saw etc... etc... basically pick your poison) A d4 that's outrageous at +16 on block, and on top of all this, a resetting command grab. I'll admit that players at high levels today can normally brake out of command grabs on reaction, but its still a great tool option to mix up with. point being he has more than just the mondo combo lol.

well... character vs. character, kabal does beat cyrax..... player vs. player on the other hand, DJT was the best that day. No one new how to adjust to his lame patient style of play. Good of DJT to beat REO, but I guarantee you if they had another like 10 sets, REO's kabal takes at least 6 of those sets. But as for characters, kabal is still the boss of this game. ForeverKing wrote a very nice forum about it. u should check it out on testyourmight.
