It's so amazing and fun to see how the combos and strategies in this game have evolved in only just a few years. If you go back and watch the 2011 and 2012 tournaments, you just can't compare how good they were back then anymore. Netherrealm studios did such a great job. I love this game!

Seeing a Kenshi player get smacked down by Johnny Cage is so satisfying. I'm not too sure what the devs were thinking when they designed Kenshi's moves but he's really cheap.

That pretty much goes for all of the DLC characters, Freddy is also a terrible matchup for Cage but has a much steeper learning curve (although I think another part to some extent of it is that players don't like using him because they'd rather play a traditional MK character lol). In fact, ironically, NRS designed Rain to be the most overpowered and he's actually the worst of the four.

Morgan Freeman That's a laughable example misguided by online play. Even before Deathstroke was nerfed in Injustice, his rap sheet is meagre compared to Zod, Batgirl and MMH (all of which are DLC characters, anyone seeing the correlation here hmm?)

strykah92 Deathstroke isn't OP, he's just annoying to fight against. That's the story with most zone-heavy characters. Unfortunately Kenshi takes it a step beyond being 'zone heavy' and is just broken.

nah, he's not cheap, Noob is cheap, Kenshi is too slow and both "Rising Karma" and "Spirit Charge" are too predictable to be annoying as Noob's "Shadows", Noob is alot faster than Kenshi, and he still has a "teleport move" -___- ... so... yeah... !!

If comments on the various youtube videos of MK9 fights are true, 85 % of all the MK9 characters are cheap, OP, imba etc.: "Kung Lao is sooo cheap", "Kenshi is the cheapest character of all time", "Kabal is totally imba", "Cyrax is way OP", "Cage should be banned from tournaments, so cheap", "Raiden's teleport makes him so imba!", "even a noob could win EVO with Smoke, so cheap", "speaking of noobs, Noob Saibot is totally OP, can just stand there and spam shadows", "only cheap players use Sonja, she's imba like hell" and on and on it goes. I think the only character I've never seen being accused of being cheap is Sheeva. Guess you need to win a tournament with her to not be considered "cheap".

It's because unlike other fighting games MK is played by a lot of casual guys who do 2-5 hit combos (Spear into uppercut, Smoke bomb into Air throw etc.) and think knowing fatalities makes you the shit and is the main goal of the game. It's more commercial and there are people who play the game like it's still 1992 when the first one came out. BTW I've read comments complaining about Sheeva... "peepul spam teh unblokaball grownd pownd and u you cant do anything also teh 14% on a throw? wat makes her so specall?!" It's stupid and you just have to ignore it. :/

The only character I feel is cheap is Cyrax. Kabal might seem cheap to people but from what I hear it takes a while to master nomad dash cancel and such. But with Cyrax all you do is need to memorize one combo and you're pretty much guaranteed to win a match.

@flamingninja98- it's because the opponent can not wake up attack, and he can only recover into a block. Therefore, Cage still maintains pressure advantage, which is Cage's game. You then get a whole lot of chip damage from F333 or 111 for free.

Why is the nut punch so good if the opponent can block and recover before Johnny can attack?Because he can set up his air punch?

Blocked normals still cause chip damage in this game and nut punch allows Cage to follow up any combo he does with a free Block String. Anytime you knock someone down they have the option to do a wake up attack or a tech roll in order to reverse or avoid any follow up offense. Nut Punch allows Cage to bypass all of the guess work and just go right back on the offense and, at the very least, adds a little bit of guaranteed damage to the end of your combo.

i dont get all the hate on kenshi . his not that good , just like Dizzy showed in this tournamount . kenshi is so beatable .just jump at the right time and your good. kenshi vs cage its 6/4 for me , not hose 8/2 or 7/3 you see on TYM . Rushdown characters have the advantage in this game , kung lao , kabal , sonya, smoke , jax etc ...
