How to interpret SEM/FESEM micrographs in your research paper or thesis?
SEM is versatile and a powerful tool for material characterization.
SEM becomes more useful and necessities Due to the continuous shrinking of the material’s dimension for copious applications.

5 u = 5 micron (micrometer). So 5 um is a small scale as compared to 100 um. But it is bigger scale as compared to 5 nm, where n is nano Simple is, if we decrease the scale, we can see more depth analysis of the material

Asalamualikum sir can you help me in interpreting the SEM images of a pasta sample?
@qamarwali
@qamarwali Ай бұрын
It is very easy. Just see the SEM images and observe what information is there. For instance, what is the shape of structure? Nanoparticles, nanorods, sheets, sphere... What is the size of the particles or sphere ? What is the size distribution? It means whether the particles are distributed uniformly or varying in size. Just find out the average value. Observe whether the surface is smooth or rough and then find the grain size if possible. Look for the porosity and observe the pore size in the materials.....then link it with the specific surface area (m2/g).... Generally, SEM provides the above-mentioned information ......and you need to elaborate these points in detail to make a paragraph in the research paper or thesis writing

The standard definition of nanomaterial is when at least one of its dimensions (x, y, and z axis) are in the range of *1- 100 nm*. Some other reports stress that *below 1000 nm* is considered as nanomaterials. Anyways, your materials dimensions are close to 100 nm, so it is for sure nanomaterials. Congratulations 🎊
