I work for Verizon, and I got to see this phone about a week early. I couldn't talk about it of course, but I am so incredibly hyped for this phone; it's gonna be amazing!! The two things that you pointed out that weren't amazing was the battery and the camera. The camera itself wasn't improved, but the software behind it was; The auto balance and auto focus is way faster than the s7, which is already very very good because of the dual pixel technology that samsung brought out with the launch of the s7 and a7 edge. The battery size on the s8 is not amazing I'll admit, but the efficiency of the phone is greatly increased, and has 20+ hours of standard use and 100+ hours of standard use on ultra power saver!!! That's freaking nuts for such a huge display.

Arjun Navaneetham yes very true, most people won't use the ultra power saver mode. However, the phone I saw early estimated 19h use left of regular use, 37h on power saver and 97h on ultra power saver, and the phone wasn't even at full charge. That is with the network running, and nothing disabled including Verizon bloatware. Network and WiFi do definitely take up battery, but the biggest power user on a phone is always the screen. Even if the battery life estimates on the phone were high, both the s8 and s8 edge should last all day long with regular use. If I remember correctly, the quoted battery time for streaming 4k video was 7h life. I don't think the battery should be an issue unless I'm missing something big.

The S8 now has 4 methods of unlocking the phone: 1) Pin/Passcode 2) FingerPrint Scanner 3) Iris Scanner 4) Face Scanner The face scanner seems to be much faster at unlocking the phone compared to the iris scanner, but I want to know if it's as secure (i'm doubting it).

it is surprising to me that not many people know that this is a new processor and probably consumes less power. Samsung knows what they are doing, they know that this phone is critical, samsung didn't reduce the size of the battery capacity entirely because of the note 7. what happened with the note 7 was manufacturing problems with the battery etc. samsung even changed the chemicals used in the battery so it has a longer lifespan. optimization can give a battery with not that giant capacity the ability to last for the same amount of time and the same amount of time over usage. samsung obviously thought of this. they wont pull an Apple on us, that would be suicide.

Plus sometimes I wear sunglasses and would rather not remove them just to look at something quickly, especially considering the fingerprint scanner is there. You have a fair point but just because there are other options doesn't give the go-to for me an excuse to be flawed

The original plan was to have the fingerprint sensor embedded onto the display, but the supplier, Synaptics, failed to produce and had some disagreements with Samsung. Adding it on the rear was the only option.

As long as this phone doesn't explode, I think Samsung will be okay. I've only had an iPhone and looking at this, it makes my iPhone 7 Plus 128 GB seem so outdated. When is Apple going to do things like USB-C, micro SDXC support, bezel-less display, etc? Apple charges a lot for the iPhone, but its competition (like Samsung) has a more feature rich phone.

If you're watching this you're certainly a tech enthusiast which means you like to personalize your phone and have great features. Actually what most people don't know, that the placement of the fingerprint was intended to be placed in an awkward area so you the average consumer won't use it much and use the iris scanner instead.. this way they are training us to use it more so they can ditch the fingerprint competently in their next generations! in conclusion they were smart not taking it away completely and to become lame to the consumers but in the same time have for them in a weird place Samsung is smarter than u think
