As a blind individual the extra features that would seem gimmicky to most people are actually extremely useful. Especially having a headphone that pauses or lowers volume of music when conversations begin. Taking out my phone and attempting to hit pause or trying to figure out which rocker is the volume can be frustrating. The noise cancling is super important with anxiety which a lot of blind individuals experience due to all the noises around us. So having better ambient noise filtration helps with dangerous situations like crossing streets.

I got these headphones and they are amazing! The noise canceling a astounding with being able to block anything from the quiet humming of a space heater to the loud screeching of a subway train hitting the breaks! They look really cool and have amazing sound too :) also the case is small and portable and perfect for carrying around in a backpack. I will most definetly run these things into the ground like I did my old headphones :D

I have an Apple Watch, iPhone Pro Max, and MacBook Pro. I've budgeted to buy these products without feeling guilty - I've saved a bit and did research with comparable products. With these headphones, I just don't think that the price is worth it. The XM4's are incredible. They're convenient, they come with a hard case, and they have amazing capabilities. To me, it's a no-brainer. If I had a TON of disposable income, then perhaps it would be a different story, but I don't.

Great review (as always). The design is understated, yet still pretty classy IMO. I agree with what you said. I'm a big Sony snob since I'm in radio and wear the MDR-7506's for my job each day on-air and they represent the industry standard for most realistic audio reproduction, and they sound great. I did what you said and ordered the XM3's since they are now cheaper, yet offer so much of what the XM4's do and since I never use multi-point, I'm good.

I was answering to "thats how these types of microphones work", I'm disappointed that such good piece of hardware (which I would really like to use) is still so bad in one aspect. I wanted to point out that it is not because of a limitation of the microphone type, and there is a huge room for improvement. Marquess, the feature of putting your hand over the right earcup (resulting in lowering the music level, stopping the noise cancellation and switching on the pass-though)... that was already available in the XM3s. And it is working just as you described it here. I'm just mentioning it, as in the video it sounded like this is a new feature ("... you can also now, while the music is playing, put your hand..."), which is not. And someone could wrongly take this as a differentiating factor over the XM3s. Except that - great review, as always! Best regards!

I bought a pair of XM2's back in 2016-2017 and they are still going strong(charge/functionality) . I use them everyday at work while I micro-finish parts. Completely gets rid of all the ambient noise in a machine shop. I have so many hours on these its crazy. All ive had to replace was the ear-pads because they were starting to fall apart and de-laminate. I ordered a replacement set of ear pads and they are like brand new again. the hard case is starting to become pretty weathered though.

If you want to fix the white noise from the active noise cancelling in these, you just need some foam ear plugs to wear under the headphones. Complete silence for an afternoon sleep while the flatmates are making noise or watching tv in the lounge. A travel neck pillow works wel too so you can sleep on your side while wearing them.

I very nearly bought a set of the new Beats Solo3 Wireless (with the W1 chip) to replace my 3 year old half working original Solo3 Wireless before I saw this video. Thank you. Seriously. These things are amazing, and unless the new Solo3's have improved drastically (in terms of sound) from the original set I have, I definitely made the right choice here. So much more comfortable, actually stick out from my head less (I used to hate over-ear headphones because they usually look way too big on my head, but the Beats actually stick out more), sound amazing, and ANC isn't something I knew I needed until I had it. They even look somehow both cool and understated at the same time. About the only way I could see that the Beats would be better is they have about 30% more battery life (apparently). But 30 hours is more than enough.

When I first got their flagship WH1000x, I was mind blown. Best headphone that I’ve ever used for travel/commute...I even said if it goes bad I’ll definitely get a new one...7-8 years later. I bought M3 last year and no hard feeling when M4 came out. M4 is an improved version of M3. There is no big improvement that I really needed. I just need a noise-cancelling headphone that good enough to handle the plane engine noise and M3 is doing damn good.

There's an option where if you hold with two fingers you can enable/disable the speak-to-chat feature. I think it turns it from a gimmick to a much more useful feature than the palm thing. Now you can just activate it with a gesture when you know you might be talking to people and deactivate it right after so you don't have to worry about it going off. Honestly haven't tried in practice yet though.

I use these primarily with my Samsung RU7100. It was flakey for a while with stuttering and lagging rearing up on certain apps and devices. Lately those seem to have been resolved through updates and I have far fewer problems with those. The sound and directionality are superb, a great problem solver for how to reduce my noise output when on the telly

Just got them and the only complaint i have is that the sound quality drops to AAC when using multipoint pairing. When paired to a single device the headphones use LDAC which makes a noticeable difference in sound fidelity. Apart from that they are A+ headphones in all aspects, especially the phenomenal Noise cancellation !
