Former Public Protector Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane says she is awaiting communication from parliament over her loss of benefits after being fired. Mkhwebane adds that she will approach the courts if those engagements fail.

The former CEO of Johannesburg Roads Agency CEO Tshepo Mahanuke was fired from his job and forfeited all benefits, infact he was ordered to pay some of the salary paid to him during his team after his dismisal(hence, as Mkhwebane say, there were massive deductions from her salary). I really wish Adv Mkhwebane does not take herself through another tedious court case, because to my knowledge, she may not be legible for the gratuity if fired from her job, but its always good to give it a try and see where it takes her.

The Committee did mess up and can count against them. However, in all fairness Mkhwebane and her legal team tried to play for time hoping the delays will cause that she not fired by end of contract date. Further doubt court will find in her favour in any event even with mistakes made by committee.

The committee was sloppy seemingly because the chairperson was taking instructions from outside the committee. Given the dynamics of upcoming parliament, I see the new committee not opposing its shody report thereby redeeming Mkhwebane. The problem of politicizing legal problems is ephemeral victories.
