The passwords required to delete “the weapon” were 034 and Samuel. Spartan Samuel-034 was the first Spartan-II to go MIA (Spartans never die) in the covenant war. His actions helped shape Chief into the man he is today, and his sacrifice proved that they could kill the covenant. That they could win the war. Edit: Also, operation RED FLAG, was designed to end the Human-Covenant war. Had it not been for the invasion of Reach, it might have succeeded. I love these dust and echos from the past.

@TheHebrewHammar Are there variations to military salutes/funerals? The reason there isn't, barring nation or branch is that the action itself takes on values that modifying would remove. It may well be that the devs are lazy but a simple action can convey deeper meaning than a complicated one, particularly as Chief didn't know the spartans personally; it's basic acknowledgment of their death without any extra actions that familiarity with the spartans would produce.

When ‘The Weapon’ asked the chief “why don’t you trust me” whenever he wanted the AI to disconnect, or when he keeps asking if it’s “safe”, I felt that. I realized he’s trying to be cautious of not making the same mistakes of losing ‘The Weapon’ the same way he lost Cortana. She became corrupt with all the new intel the installations had buried. Cortana became rogue with the information she got from the installations, and the deterioration over the years of the AI. The more data AI’s collect the less “thinking” space they deal with. They will think themselves to death. Just how Cortana was doing when she was trapped in High Charity. Or how she was alone in the “Forward Unto Dawn”, thinking herself to near death, while the chief was in cryogenic sleep. The weapon is not Cortana, but he definitely does not want to lose her the same way he lost Cortana.

Joseph Staten saved this game. The fact that Halo Infinite feels like the original trilogy tells you that he saved 343. The story, art work, gameplay it feels like Halo again. Loved that Halo Wars 2 story was continued and that they try to fix the mess that was Halo 5. There was some holes in the story like Hasley, Lasky, Palmer, Osiris and blue team as well as Red team and the spirit of fire.
@whodistoodis3 жыл бұрын
I think "saved" might be overstating it a bit. An improvement for sure, and all things considered, I'm pleasantly surprised with how they handled everything. But its far, far from perfect. And I'll never get over how deep in the uncanny valley Weapon/Cortana is. That said, I'm almost torn, in a way. Mess that Halo 5 was, I almost wish they had committed to seeing what they had created to the end rather than inelegantly sweeping most of it under the rug as they have. At least with as much as there still is in the air, we have plenty to work with going forward, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to it.

Why did Atriox assume he killed Chief? Like, he had to know he didn't kill him despite all the damage. He couldn't even kill one member of Red Team despite delivering grievous injuries to Douglas (and he wasn't even trying to kill them that time. He was holding back. It didn't seem like he should have held back on MC). I get he wanted Chief's supposed death to sap Cortana's hope and force her surrender, but even she wasn't buying it, and assumed Chief would be alive to hear her messages. Like, I don't buy that Atriox at all thought he actually killed Chief. He's normally a pretty smart and tactically brilliant brute. Why compromise his entire mission to get revenge on Cortana via destroying humanity by leaving the greatest threat to him alive?

What and who tf was Harbinger, a Precursor or another species entirely? What the hell can possibly be worse than the flood, when the rings fired what survived besides the flood? How the fuck did that happened? New enemy? Wtf we still haven't dealt with the god damn covenant assholes. Also how many spartans died bruh? I seriously had SO much fun with this storyline. Do I completely understand what is going on, with how Cortana's war played out and how we got here? No. But I didn't know what was going on in the original trilogy when I was a kid either, and Halo is still one of my all-time favorite gaming franchises. I was so happy to see how much more "emotional" Chief was in this campaign, and 343 used their mistakes in Halo 5 to fix this games' trajectory, if that makes sense. We lost our original Cortana, and we and the Chief can feel that grief. Yet I still fell in love with this new Weapon AI, along with the Pilot, and how much of an actual team they and the Chief were. I actually teared up a few times. This game gave me back the hope of seeing my favorite game continue to be great. I was so skeptical because of how 5 played out, but 343 recovered quite a bit in my eyes. My only true complaint was not seeing the Arbiter mentioned anywhere in the game (besides the plushie). He was so integral to the original trilogy, and I so hoped to see him (even play him!) in this game, since we didn't get much from 5. But! There's more games in development, and I hope we get him back soon.

@@BryantheArchivist Not with Halo 4, but since her first death in 2012 until now it's been basically 9 years of a drawn out death sequence.

Yeah... :( 343 basically bastardised her in the first two games they made, now they're making their "NU" Cortana to fit the obvious gap they made, with all the character of a potato.

Don't write off original Cortana. You don't think she's just "deleted" offscreen do you? Or that some Brute, no matter how menacing could take her? Cortana 2.0 said something was helping her during the final battle, seemingly implying that she's alive, as the whole game sort of did. Even when he sees Cortana's final message, we're briefly teased before she says she was guessing about 2.0's comment. The original Cortana was quite possibly the most powerful thing in the universe and seeing as how something worse than the flood is supposedly on the ring, I doubt we've heard the last of her till we've heard the last of whatever that might be. On a less nerdy side of things, I just don't think they'll let her go. I hope not.
