Dear Customer Continuing on from our phone conversation please see attached some info that may be of interest to you. I can offer you two x MkII TBI-34 and will machine them both so they have the Stromberg two bolt pattern (same as in my 202 videos). These can be mounted sideways as the TBI is not attitude sensitive. Note: 1. You do not have to be fiddling with the mixture all the time, in fact you can just set it a nice spot and leave it. The metering regulator takes care of the rest. 2. Some folks think this unit cannot be used through the rev range or "on / off" like in a car because aircraft are running at a constant speed? This is entirely incorrect as the TBI does not know what sort of engine its bolted to and responds better than any carb I've ever used. The tiny holes offer an almost perfect progression of fuel delivery better than any one single jet or tapered needle. 3. Aerobatic aircraft are generally very high performance engines and they are constantly on and off the throttle. Our TBI unit is used in many competition aerobatic aircraft. 4. Fuel can be any petrol. Avgas or Unleaded no issues. Ethanol best kept below 15 %. I can do you two MkII TBI-34 with two bolt Stromberg pattern for just AUD $xxx (sales@rotecaerosport.com) all up with FREE shipping in Oz. I'm looking to get these on more cars and bikes to show others what can be done. These TBI would be a race tuners wet dream as its like having a pocket full of 1,000 jets that you can install and test in an instant while on the fly. Two of these units will look sharp on your 179. This would be a good setup with Wideband and Vacuum gauge's and you could dial this in perfectly. And no jets to change just twist the orifice tube while on the run. I like it.

Great stuff , I can see boat engines some carb 4wd's running this as angles will not cause fuel flooding . Watching with interest on the auto motive front 👍👍

I have used these successfully on a number of aircraft engines, incl VW and Subaru conversions. My main thought for automotive use would be to change the cumbersome linear slide actuation to a more compact rotary or lever action with a return to idle spring.

Hi, for the interest for all, please consider a wideband air fuel ratio gauge, this will certainly help to show the fuel metering and enrichment, will also help with tuning time, I have a long career tuning cars and motorcycles, z18 turbo Datsun 1600 efi, when I was 18 to a converted to efi Yamaha fzr1000 with a turbo, not to forget car and bike carb tuning . With many hours on engine and chassis’s dyno’s time, 34 years in total. A wideband o2 is a must to perfecting this stuff, I know air craft guys are still playing like it’s 1960’s Carbs and mag ignitions and tuning by ear. That’s nice too, but to truely evaluate this carby we really need to see how it is reacting . A decent o2 set up should set you back half the retail cost of just one of your carbs, I would certainly be interested, I have a 202 Holden and a 1978 Bedford motor home, converting to this set would be cheaper than a Efi set up, I just need to see how this behaves with a wideband o2 kit fitted. Afr’s at 14.7 at idle to a richer 12.5-1 under load for example. Your aircraft engine are built tough can handle lean mixtures under load and run high octane fuel, Our car engines are a very different breed . I am sure Haltec Australia could set you up Keep up the great work, every one it seems has given up Improving the humble carby, Fixing efi system on the side of the road is not as easy as say, cleaning a carb!

To use this in a car you need to activate the primer on initial throttle application As an accelerator pump (like a Holley) These are good at sensing load but I ran a sprung vacuum diaphragm to pull full rich at wot It was awesome on my TRX850 on e85

Would it make sense to round off the top edge of the throttle plate to improve air entry into the throttled area? The idea being that for a given airflow you could have a smaller throttle opening and consequently higher airspeed and hopefully even better fuel atomisation. Should be useful in an automotive application where small throttle openings are used much of the time.

One thing i would like answered is filtration level required in microns, as automotive fuel is a lot dirtier than avgas, please recommend best method to keep these very fine orifice clear of dirty fuel as fuel station here in Australia are well not the cleanest in average.

Ok. I made a happy accident and found this on the web. No float bowls progressive mixtures. Fine vaporization. Obviously I have to in quite about sourcing one from Canada to use on a 258 AMC Jeep. How much damage would it inflict upon a fellows pocket book to get one to Nova Scotia.

Yes the TBI are not attitude sensitive so you can run then at any position. They are used regularly in aerobatic aircraft which are upside down half the time ;)

peak power wouldnt change much with both set up correctly, but this appears simpler and more tuneable and made in Oz

I have the smaller 2850/173 with a mild Crow Cam and Extractors with standard crank rods and pistons - Would one of these be too big?

We do a 34mm 40mm 50mm throat, id suggest the 40mm is a good match for a warm Holden 6.

It would be easy to setup lean burn on a car with the help of an afr Guage. .very interesting..what cfm does that unit flow?

We are new to dabbling with these in automotive use, but we have used these in sport aircraft engines for many years. Biggest engines we have see the '48' used on is on an Lycoming 540 ci aircraft engine. This worked fine but was pushing the CFM limits at WOT.

depends on the application. For a purists that just wants to stay factory no improvement at all. For people pushing NA engines to the max and wanting wide tunability and access to "factory" advice its would be great.

What's a TBI? How does it differ from a carby? Not everyone who has an interest in this sort of thing has knowledge on the subject.It would help if the video came with an explanation.

3 of this model TBI would be massive overkill on a 292! Im fitting just a single ( of this model MkII-48 4/5) on my 292.
