Figure drawing in pen and ink

I put a 2H lead in my pencil to keep it as light as possible for future erasing. Of course, I’m not pressing at all, just leaving a thin tracing line. Is this a sound method?

That sounds very sound. I sometimes work on soft hot-press watercolor papers that will score if I use a harder pencil. That’s why HB or 2B is the right choice for me.
