Onyx You should be able to get them through my Google Drive link in the description. It links to all the texture packs I have available. It should have a ZIP folder containing the item textures labeled "SMW Item Textures".

What files in race.szs do I replace for the item textures?

To replace the item textures, use the SZS Modifier. Just open your race.szs and locate the item texture files, these are typically named with the convention of "fm_item_[item name here]" however, other items can fall under the name "tt_item_[item name here]". One exception to this is the triple banana texture which is labelled "item_banana_3". Once you have located the textures, highlight them so that you see the texture on the right side of the window in the preview window. Double-click on the texture in the preview window, and a new window will open. This window will contain a small black space with the texture in the top left corner. In this window, go to File>Import and replace the texture with the appropriate file given. Once you have replaced all the files, save your race.szs, and you should be good to go! :D If you need further help or clarification, please feel free to reply back.

Everything should have an SZS file, other than any textures that are placed inside a master SZS file (common.szs & race.szs).

@@PogaltaEditz You will have to download the SZS Modifier and place the files into the proper places within the common.szs or tace.szs files. The actual textures should be in the "timg" folder and you'll have to locate the right files for whatever you are changing. The position numbers should be labeled with the number and the prefix "pos" (short for position). Continue this for anything else. To import the textures, double-click on the preview on the right and a separate window will appear. Select File>Import and choose the according texture. It can be a bit of a process, but it doesn't really work if I give a brand new race.szs or common.szs for each new texture located within them. Also, most things should be in the Race.SZS so try that one first. I can't remember where every individual texture is off the top of my head. Hopefully this helps. TLDR; You'll need the SZS Modifier to import the image files into the appropriate SZS files.

I edit the Candyfloss texture in with SZS Modifier and it says that the file is to big, is that because I have a race.szs with lots of custom stuff?

Could be. However, if you add additional data (which adding elements like additional colours counts), the file can grow in size a little, and the race.szs won't be able to compress itself correctly. The majority of MKWii files don't like slight increases in file size unfortunately. I recommend changing some settings, or try to open the file and resave it until it gets close to the original size. The original size is 0.69, but sometimes the file will save with 0.70.

If you are talking about the minimap, my Custom Map Gradients Pack needs to be inserted into the race.szs file in the game_image folder. I talk about this towards the end of the video. If you are talking about my item textures pack, the texture files will also need to be inserted into the race.szs file. This can be done with the SZS Explorer or the SZS Modifier. Just locate the item texture files. For example, the blooper, thunder cloud, POW and mega mushroom are located with the name of "fm_item_[item name here]". Other items go under the name "tt_item_[item name here]". Triple bananas are an exception and is listed with the name "item_banana_3". If you need further help or clarification, please feel free to reply back.

real3nder You shouldn't have to convert them to TPL. Replacing the files in the race.szs should work; does the console stay on black, or come up with CTGP error screen? Also how far do you get before it crashes?

★iSlime★ The console just stays black. Nothing happens. I right-clicked on the original item files and clicked replace, then I replaced them with your files. I then put race.szs into My Stuff. On mkwii, I get past the course select, and after I press ‘OK’ to start the race, the screen goes black and the console freezes. Even pressing power on the console doesn’t work. I have to hold it down and reboot. I did get the map gradient to work before I replaced the textures though.

How do you load the textures to the game

Valor Pingu on your SD card with CTGP on it, you will have the " My Stuff" folder. On that, you will place different SZS files and such. For the SMW Item Textures, they will need to be inserted into your Common.SZS file with the SZS Modifier. You will want to locate the main texture "timg" folder, and find the corresponding textures. Most of which are 32×32 pixels in size, if that helps. Double click on the texture in the preview window, and a texture editor window will open. From there, select Import Texture, and apply the texture associated. Once you have completed this, the SZS can be loaded from your My Stuff folder into the game. Make sure the My Stuff folder is enabled in the CTGP menu.

It's a bit of a process, you will need to obtain a Mario Kart Wii ISO. The best way of doing so is to rip it from the disc. You will then have to use a set of tools called Wiimm's ISO Tools, to extract the game files. In them will be every kind of SZS file you will need for the future. Save this directory, and copy files out of it for modification so you don't have to extract the files again. Placing the item texture files directly into the My Stuff folder won't work. Unfortunately for these files some manual installation is required. To install the item textures, you must open up your Race.SZS file in the SZS Modifier, and locate the texture files inside of the "timg" folder; the files you should be looking for is anything with the pre-fix "fm_item" or "tt_item", one exception to this is the triple banana named "item_banana_3". Replacing them simply requires double clicking on the image in the preview window, and then selecting File > Import in the secondary window. After that, just select the associated texture (remember to save). If that's still not working, let me know. :)
