As a young lad I saw Deltics speeding up and down the ECML, amazing to think that these fine beasts are making an appearance on the Bluebell.

I did..! Where can one see a Deltic in action today..? Are they only on the preservation scene now or are some still used in freight movements? Thanks in anticipation..
@MLawrence20089 жыл бұрын
Yuxin Wang The last mainline freight run (that I am aware of) took place in 2011 because of a shortage of diesel traction at the time. See here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIqqe5uemshgpsU The big D's still occasionally get out on the mainline on heritage trips - see thedps.co.uk/ (google Deltic Preservation Society if the link is missing Hope this helps.

The mighty 55 - GODS LOCO!! All hail the arriving lords of power!!!!! Why did i not hear these were on the Bluebell? I would have travelled the several hundred miles just to see them :(((((( "And it came to pass, on the first day he created DELTIC and he saw it was good. He spake unto the gathered masses saying, "ride behind my mighty chariots of rail and give thanks to the lords of horsepower".......( and English Electric !)

Very good video :-). I like it :-). I liked the BR class 55 Deltics in your video Lawrence :-). Plus, I also liked the BR class 09 shunter shunting the BR class 55's about the Bluebell Railway :-). Plus, the BR class 09 looks just like the BR class 08 shunter don't you think? :-). Because I really think so :-). Have a nice evening Lawrence and I hope to comment on some more of your vids again soon :-). From Foxy :-).

If there is high pitched noise,there is wear taking place.Grease and maintenance would be nice.

Why is it the national railways are not able to operate as efficiently?

Interesting video. I find myself wondering if gauge testing couldn't be done by some simpler method than getting the locos and running them up and down the platforms? Is it always done this way?
@MLawrence20089 жыл бұрын
Wylye_guy I don’t know if it is always done this way but my observation would be that track can shift in hot or cold weather so it is the only way to be absolutely sure.
@jamesedwards72419 жыл бұрын
+Wylye_guy The whole of the BBL should actually still conform to original specs as far as load gauge is concerned so the 55's would not have any problems normally, However..... As I once found out on the Louth Branch, Things do move over time, lucky for us all we got was a bent handrail but it could have been far worse.

Great video, 09 018 used to work on her years back, where is she from?
@MLawrence20089 жыл бұрын
MikesMovies As far as I can tell the loco was last at the La-Farge works in Hope, Derbyshire from where it was sold by HNRC to a group of Bluebell Railway Locomotive Dept. members.
