pretty sure the first baseman on the second play got sent down to the minors the next day after that play
@Roller111112 ай бұрын
The second one in particular, the inning ends when the Pirates first base man tags first base when he's a few steps away with the ball. Instead a runner scores and a guy ends up on second. Send him to the minors.

@@Roller11111 so many chances to end the inning. Step on first, turn around and step on first, tag baez, or better yet... Step on first!

One thing that I always remember as a player and an umpire is to always think 5 steps ahead of any play. The best coach I ever had taught me to always be mindful of where every play could possibly go. It's a game of chess. Love baseball and I sorely miss playing.

0:40 all you had to do was touch 1st inning over and that run can’t ever count.

Was Yellich faster than the fielder? How'd he get to second? That distraction let the other runner get back to first.

I know the pirates are king fails at times, but my god. How do you run down a first base trot?
@RurbanWalker2 ай бұрын
Not all but many of these are simply due to lazy, go through the motion defensive mentality. It's so rare to see offenses actually take advantage of these defensive lapses since baseball is so conservative just waiting for home runs.

Question about the first one: if the second baseman is tagging the bag, why isn't the base runner out when he leaves the bag for third?
@seantimmons59002 ай бұрын
It's not a force out. He stole second. You need to tag the runner when he is not touching the base, not the base itself.
@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co2 ай бұрын
Because once the runner is safe at second it's no longer a force play. They'd have to tag him once he left second.
@camhabibi22172 ай бұрын
@@seantimmons5900 Got it, I knew it wasn't a force out at 2nd but I wasn't sure if the runner could still leave the bag once the ball has arrived at the base. I guess our little league coaches told us not to leave the bag cuz we would probably get tagged.
@tonylemek22142 ай бұрын
This is why you coach to leave the glove on the runner until ump calls time.
