It's stuff like this that comes to mind for many people when AJ is mentioned. Strangely, he had a long, successful career (statistically speaking). 19 MLB years, a .280 batting, 2043 hits and a World Series ring.

iirc, the Catcher was traditionally the team captain on the field. Many of them fill that role in one way or another, even if the title isn't always used anymore, they act like leaders within their team and stick up for their players. There's a sense of ownership there.

Every Ump should be required to have a body cam. That way we know what is said and how it is said. If the action does not warrant an ejection, the ump should have his next day behind homeplate skipped. after 3 instances, there should be a dock in pay and or suspension.

Don’t need a cam. Just hook up a wireless mic would be sufficient. This video was painful to watch - on most clips we don’t get to see what actually happened in the play itself, but just a lot of footage of catcher losing their cool and starts arguing. Without seeing the play, it is hard for me to empathize with a catcher who simply appears to lose his cool.

I know umpires get yelled at a lot throughout a game (I’m an umpire myself), but unless a player or coach is being aggressive or getting in your face, there is no reason to throw them out. These umpires want to show how “tough” they are by “not taking crap from anyone,” and they abuse their power by tossing people for very minor things. They’re affecting the outcome of the game when they do this, and it really ticks me off bc the number 1 job of an umpire is to call the game fairly and not influence the outcome.

The first clip in this video: That catcher is full of s___. He caught the ball outside the strike zone, and quickly moved his glove back into the strike zone and held his glove there for a long time. And he had the ball to get up and argue with the Ump about it? Ump should have asked MLB to re-play that in slow-no on the giant screen for entire stadium to see, and then eject the catcher out of the game.

@0:42 This is unacceptable. This is a Ump initiated confrontation, escalation. This is an Ump deciding to affect and the corruption of the course and potential outcome of a game. This calls into question the integrity of the game. THIS CAN NOT EVER HAPPEN! Its potentially causes the possibility of more likely cheating behavior, because it lowers the standard for what is considered acceptable.

I don't understand all the hate against the umpires. I'm not really into baseball, but I enjoy a few clips like these from time to time. It seems the players wouldn't get thrown out as much if they would have some dignity and integrity, and just play the game. There are too many players with fragile egos in this clip, and I'm glad they're getting thrown out for refusing to play baseball at a baseball game, or doing something stupid like arguing calls. The 4:55 clip is an exception where I agree the ump is just being a baby. If the pitcher broke the rules somehow, then just toss him out. 5:31 is a perfect example of what I'm annoyed with. Just... shut up and play, or listen to it and play. You can do both. You don't have to stop the game to cry at each other.

Standing up for your team or your pitcher is one thing. Getting offended over a batter hitting a home run or any good clutch hit, to me, is something else. Fielders celebrate good or clutch plays. Pitchers celebrate key strikeouts. Only hitters are not allowed a moment to admire a key hit. Your first career homerun. Any significant batting milestone is not allowed to be celebrated. Catchers taunt batters all the time, gut let it be the other way around and tittie baby time.

You pick great clips for these comp videos, but you're always clipping too much from the beginning and ends, and there's no context. Unless you follow all 30 teams religiously, you'll never really understand more than half of what's shown. Not just this post, but lots of the ones you put up. Guess I'll just stick with @Jomboy
