Why are the announcers so confused about what Votto did? He was definitely messing with the fans, plus all the people who stood up for the ball were Philly fans... he even did a joke celebration afterwards.

I saw that Ichiro play live, saw it like twenty times that night, and am revisiting here it again today. My mind has never changed on this fact: I think that was a catchable ball, and not by unordinary standards. Every time people have always given him so much credit for such a smart play. Personally, I still think to this day he could have caught the ball and kept the Marlins in the ballgame for a new inning.

Great list. The best example I ever saw was in 1991 during the world series. Ball was hit sharply over second base. Chuck knoblauch in his rookie of the year season uses a ground ball deke, even slapping his glove to imitate the sound of the ball hitting his glove. he saved a run preserving the Twins win. Chuck could have been one of the greats but had the throwing tips which even shortened his career. He was a small, plucky, tenacious player who could hit .315 or better when he was "on".

Having watched a bunch of MLB deke videos lately, I've noticed that almost every video I've seen seems to have at least one unique play from each of the following players: Ichiro (the only one in every video because of his tenure and savviness) Simmons Daniel Murphy I feel like with more time in, Enciarte will start being a big regular over the next few years, as well. Some of those were really good plays.

@airanator12125 жыл бұрын
I used to do shit like this all the time through my time in middle school and high school baseball. Umps used to try and tell me I couldn’t do random shit all the time and I used to cite rules from the rule book I had memorized to shut them down. It was fucking hilarious. Opponent coaches would try and get the umps to get me to stop or kick me out all the time cuz what I was doing always worked and I never got in trouble cuz I always was able to just barely stay within the rules allowing me to fuck up the plays of the opposing players constantly. Used to fake catch and take like a 2 step charge at players super quick and fake have the ball, used to pretend I lost it all the time. I remember I was playing 2nd and runners were on 1st and 3rd so I had the bag on a steal, and when the guy stole and the throw came down I purposely knocked it down in the dirt really hard when I saw he was gonna beat the throw. The second the kid started to get up I turned in a panic toward centerfield and yelled the name of the guy in center. The second the runner thought the ball flew passed me and took his first step towards third I swiped his ass with the ball in my glove. Probably my favorite aspect of baseball. If I wasn’t pitching, I was typically just extremely bored and spastic so I did this all the time to liven it up for myself. Favorite spot to make plays was probably at 3rd cuz the hardest grounders came to third so I felt cool snagging really nasty hops and whipping it all the way over to 1st for the out. Although I didn’t get to play 3rd much cuz we had a guy with a wicked nasty arm who they put at 3rd all the time for that very reason. So they stuck me at 2nd where I just kind of messed with players the whole time.

Can't believe you didn't show Chase Utley's fake throw you first in the 08 world series. Man on third, tie game, Utley fields a grounder and fakes a throw you first. Guy on third thinks he can make it home, Utley still has the ball and throws home to nab the runner. Tie preserved and the Phillies would go on to win the World Series that game.
