From NY, and rooted for underdogs all the time. Wanted Boston to win in 67, and in the 70’s and the admiration and respect for Yaz was one of the biggest reasons. You could always tell he took the game seriously, no foolishness, like many, and did always give it 110%. Never to be forgotten prince of baseball and of character.

I'm from Ny, Long Island, like Yaz. While I was and am a Yankees fan, I always admire and respect Yaz. When I was very young I did root for Boston in 67 and 75. My team wasn't there and Carl's was. And he was in his prime. Triple Crown winner, MVP all-star, Hall of Famer and A class act!

It was too bad he did not win a World Series with the Red Sox. He was the top hitter in both the 1967 and 1975 WS. Him and Jim Rice were my favorite Red Sox players.

Yaz was my boyhood favorite...I'll always have a soft spot for him. How I wish they could have won in '67 or '75. The photo of Yaz after they won the pennant in '67, in the locker room with the champagne flowing warms my heart, especially seeing the sheer joy and exuberance of Yaz. He was always so buttoned down with his emotions, especially to the public. He just never seemed comfortable. I don't know if he's ever been willing to participate in the VIP suite at Fenway to hang with fans, like Petrocelli or Fisk and others. Even at signings he seems pretty restrained, like he'd just as soon have it over with...I believe he prefers his privacy. He's gotta know the fans adored him...maybe too much?

Great player with class! Like his voice. I grew up in Cincinnati. He made the last out in 1975 world series but I knew if he had 3 at bats in that sutuation, one of them would have been a home run - that is my opinion
