I'm a Red Sox fan, but growing up from little league to high school, there was no other player I liked and respected more than the Ozzie Smith. Thanks for making me and so many others love this game. Hats off to you sir.

i got nothing but respect for this man and he gets my vote for the Hall. but is he the last everyday player to be inducted based solely on his defense. ? i ask because he didn't have impressive career stats swinging the bat.

+scyanks7 Ozzie Smith was a great ambassador of the game and he deserved to be elected to the Baseball Hall Of Fame. This was the one of the greatest defensive players in the history of the game. And despite his career .262 batting average he accumulated 2,400 career hits and hit one of the most memorable home runs in Cardinals history.(His walk off home run off Dodgers reliever Tom Niedenfuer in Game Five of the 1985 NLCS) .262 is not even the lowest batting average of any player in the Hall Of Fame. Harmon Killebrew, who hit 573 career home runs has that distinction with a career average of .256. Major League Baseball could use a few more players like Ozzie Smith.

Defense yes but where is the offense. He just got it because if his backflip. " When you go out there boy do a backflip"

He only was a weak hitter in his first few years with the Padres. With the Cardinals, he was an above-average offensive player. He did everything well with the bat except hit home runs.
@DavidSmith-bg3yy2 жыл бұрын
Almost 2500 hits, and hit several clutch home runs.
