Anderson said Mookie made him laughed because the ball was so far away from the place he dived that no way Mookie could save from Shohei's hit whether he dived or not at all. Obviously Mookie was just doing so as a performance showing his great try of saving his teammate and moved the Dodgers fans like you. However, away from a comedian movie, Mookie actually shouldn't have such a dive at all in baseball world reality. In fact, Mookie's leap almost gave Shohei enough time to have a RUNNING HOME RUN (Shohei might actually be able to make it home if he didn't stop at the 3rd base). However, Mookie paid the huge price by himself and Dodgers for that unnecessary diving performance as his bone was found out broken after then and it would take him away from the team for a long while and big trouble for Dodgers!

it was ruled Anderson's error. If a player gets to base on an error (i.e. he would have been out if not for the obvious mistake by the fielder), it is by definition not a hit. Unless you are talking about the fielder's choice later in the game? That one isn't ruled a hit because the fielder had the option to get the batter out but chose to get the force out on the runner on 2nd. Since he could have gotten the batter out and only didn't by choice of going for runner, it's a classified as fielder's choice, not a hit.
