The hidden ball tricks where there is actually some true trickery and skill are entertaining, like the first clip. Also in the first clip there was clear intent by the runner to completely leave the base. Personally I feel that the hidden ball trick where the fielder is just standing there waiting for the runner to adjust his position on the bag and then shove their glove against them is just a loophole in the rules. The runner has no intent to leave the bag, there isn’t any further active play at the bag, and they’re just adjusting their position. I know I know, they lifted their foot half an inch off the bag, I get it, but to me it’s not really any intent. The ones where they truly trick the runner into intentionally vacating the bag are great though.

@brandon23471
@brandon23471 4 ай бұрын
I'm more of the opinion that if you have zero awareness of where the ball is, don't take your hand or foot off the bag. Players shouldn't be protected from failing at the fundamentals of baseball, they should be in danger of being punished by the other team.

Baseball is a backwards sport. Pitchers are called for balks for scratching their nose on the mound, yet actually trying to trick the baserunner is not only allowed, but nor even considered bad sportsmanship. I don't care if I'm in the minority here, but I like when games are decided by the talent of the players, not technicalities.
