Don't think people understand how important Ohtani's homer against the Padres was. They fall down 3-0 in the 1st, and Dodger fans are saying "here we go again." And then Shohei comes up and hits an absolute missile and restores both the crowd and the confidence in the team. Yes, Ohtani didn't have the greatest Postseason, but he had some very impactful hits. His double in Game 1 of the World Series was huge.
@Zagirus24 күн бұрын
"Ohtani didn’t have the greatest postseason" What are you talking about? Ohtani got INJURED in game 2, leaving him one-handed. Seriously, it seems like no one remembers Ohtani's great LCS performance before the devastating injury, where he had 1.184 OPS, .364 batting average, leading with 9 runs all while moonwalking through bases with his 17 TIMES on base. With a mind-boggling .818 with RISP, the dude basically turned baseball into an artform. He was the unsung NLCS MVP. But of course, let's pretend none of that brilliance ever happened, all because he didn't magically homer in every game with just one hand in the WS.

Those who follows the Dodgers all season long and watch them play every game in the postseason knows and understands how important that 3 run homer against the Padres is. That play is by far the best play of the postseason...it’s even greater than Freeman’s historic walk off grand slam. Because without that play by Ohtani, the Dodgers would not even be playing in the World Series.

Shohei Ohtani made the two most important plays in the whole entire series. 1) The first one was his 3 run homer in game 1 against the Padres. Without that play, in all likelihood the Dodgers would have been swept 3-0 by the Padres just like last year’s Divisional Series against the Diamondbacks. 2) The second one was the hit at the bottom of the 8th that made it possible to tie the game and set up Freeman’s grand slam. If Shohei didn’t make that clutch play, the Yankees would most likely take game 1 and there’s a very good possibility that they would come back to L.A. leading 3-2 or the Yankees could very well win it all in New York.

The Dodgers aimed to secure the highest winning percentage in Major League Baseball. On the other hand, once the Yankees had clinched the highest winning percentage in the American League, they prioritized rest and did not pursue the overall Major League lead. Ultimately, I think the home field advantage was a crucial factor when considering the long-distance travel between the West and East Coasts. Adjusting to the time difference when traveling from West to East is difficult, so the advantage is minimal. I heard that before Game 3, the Dodgers engaged in physical activity to combat jet lag, while the Yankees opted for rest and did not hold a full team practice. Such minute details can often be the deciding factor in a series.

I love and respect Yu Darvish, but watching the Hernandez Brothers smoke him while the Dodger pitchers led by Yamamoto iced the Padre offense was _chef's kiss_ satisfying to watch. You don't need to showboat to win, and the best smack talk is indeed when you win the series. I consider myself fortunate to have seen the Kirk Gibson walkoff homer live, and now Freddie Freeman's walkoff grand slam is yet another moment of baseball magic. And of course that bonkers 5th inning, based on scouting reports that the Yankees have great talent but not great fundamentals; Hernandez, Edman, and Mookie took full advantage of this and set up a situation where one clutch hit would bring the Dodgers within striking distance. They got two clutch hits. No team has ever come back from a 5-0 deficit to clinch the World Series, and the Dodgers went ahead and did it with 2 out.
shohei did fine in postseason against padres and Mets and scored tying run in Ist WS game. made impact in Dodgers post season
