Everyone talking about Wheeler but Kodai Senga, David Peterson, Reed Garrett and surprisingly Phil Maton pitched extremely well to keep it a 1 run game. Mets do well against left handed pitching so it could be a 2-0 lead heading back to Flushing⚾

Not "surprisingly" Maton has been good all year - he had 1 bad inning in Milwaukee as did Butto the following night yet they bailed out Butto with a miracle win. Maton is good as is Butto

Philadelphia resident here. The Mets are the Phillies of the past two years. On a roll, playing with house money, no pressure. The Phillies have the weight of being the favorites and the shadow of last year's collapse against the Diamondbacks hanging over them. If the Phillies can win today, I actually think they might play better on the road, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Mets swept them. On a different note, I do not like the way the MLB playoffs are structured. A baseball team has 162 games to prove itself. No other sport comes close with the number of regular season games. There are peaks and valleys for every team, but over that sample size, teams have a chance to prove themselves. I don't like the idea of having so many teams in the playoffs that a short hot period can supercede performance over a long period of time. (Yes, I realize that the Phillies have benefited from this system, but I still don't like it). Also, every team should play in every round of the playoffs. The NFL is the only other league that gives a bye to top seeds in the first round, but I think it makes more sense with a collision sport like football. It was better when there were four divisions, and two teams from each league made the playoffs. If under the current divisional setup, there were to be one wild card from each league, OK. I know there is a lot of money involved, and more fans can have a rooting interest, but I don't like it.
