David Freese' last two at bats in this game and his first at bat in game 7 are the three greatest consecutive at bats in MLB history. His WRC+ for those can't and won't ever be matched.
@fiercedeitylink20192 ай бұрын
that 4.000 OPS is nice, but I think you're forgetting he was already surpassed by his own teammate, albert pujols, in game three of that very world series, where he hit three home runs in three straight plate appearances for an OPS of 5.000
@davidconnor58742 ай бұрын
@@fiercedeitylink2019 You're talking about OPS and I'm talking about WRC+. An entirely different stat that measures hit quality along the leverage of that hit. They're not even trying to calculate the same thing. You can go to baseball reference and look it up if you think I'm wrong.
@fiercedeitylink20192 ай бұрын
@davidconnor5874 wRC+ and OPS+ (and by extension, OPS) are very similar statistics. i don't know who told you wRC+ measures quality of the hit and leverage, but it absolutely does not. it uses wRAA, which is based on wOBA, which is a context-neutral statistic. it simply takes each type of hit, hit-by-pitch, and unintentional walk and assigns them a value based on the value of each of those results in each league for each season. it does not in any way factor in leverage or runs batted in or anything like that. due to the similarity in factors, OPS+ and wRC+ are nearly always very similar in their result. for example, aaron judge has a 219 OPS+ and a 214 wRC+. so, a 4.000 OPS stretch would have a lower wRC+ than a 5.000 OPS stretch in the exact same postseason series.

I became a rangers fan in 2010. I was just 9 years old. I remember this series clearly. Me and my dad (and somewhat my mom) were watching it. All I can remember about game 6 was the look on my dad’s face when he saw that walk off homer. He looked sad and speechless. He didn’t move for a while. Just stood there like a statue. The exact same face. We lost the series, even before game 7. He and I just couldn’t believe it. To be that close to winning it all and having it taken away from you, TWICE, is a type of pain that I can never forget. I thought we were cursed when we lost in the ALDS twice to the blue jays. ANOTHER BIRD TEAM. Thankfully I got to share that moment again when we won it all. The pain has softened but damn does it suck to loose it all. Especially since it happened twice. This series was definitely one of the best in baseball. That much is certain. Funnily enough I told my dad when was the last time he saw game 6 and he said “I will never watch it again.”

Not a Cardinals or Rangers fan but this has gotta be the best baseball game of all time. Chills constantly from innings 8-11. Man I miss the golden age of baseball, when it was televised nationally and not blacked out and shared between 99 streaming services. We really lost something special

I am a lifelong baseball fan, I got it in my blood, but today it seems watered down. I liked when Baseball players made a play or blasted a shot they got on with it, today it's about little dances and hey look at me, I miss the old days, but that's just IMHO.

Right. So let's say the team you are a fan of wins the WS this year. Are you really not going to celebrate because the sport is "shared between 99 streaming services"? I'm going to hold you to that. Which it isn't, by the way. I just watched a great Rangers-Orioles game on National TV in June. You probably didn't see it, though. Cause it sounds like you ain't a real baseball fan :(

@@wesleythetrombonist Not to be *that guy* but the Braves played 10 today. Um, Do you even know what baseball is? Or are you just a casual fan who wants to complain? If it's the latter (which I know it is) I'll leave you be. On the condition that you just be careful with what you say/post going forward. Baseball is the best sport, it's life to me. And it's fading. Your OG posts are what push people away. The ideology of "I miss baseball when it was.. etc" has been mentioned for over 100 years now. Do you want to be the guy who misses how baseball was? Or the guy who will always enjoy baseball for what it is? I'll leave it up to you.
