Alice Cooper was my 1970s hero!! His art saved my fucking life..for real!!! If not for Alice, I would not have gotten my four year college scholarship to Iowa State University!! Damn straight!! Thank you Alice Cooper, YOU AND YOUR GUYS GAVE THIS LITTLE BRILLIANT THROWAWAY A CHANCE AT Life!! GOD BLESS YOU FOREVER!!!!!

I feel like Alice saved me too or at least my sanity because when my parents were always screaming at & putting us kids down, like "What's wrong with you." "You'll never amount to nothing." & randomly beating us whenever they felt like it, I'd put Alice on headphones to block them out until I graduated from high school, thinking "I gotta get outta this place!". "I gotta get away!" when I moved out. Then, a few months later, when I turned 18, I was thinking, "I'm Eighteen & I like it!". His songs were always so relevant to my life & he was like a inspirational role model & a genius theatrical horror rockstar! This is when my gothic phase began. God bless Alice💜

Alice Cooper was the first "Rock Show " i ever attended back 1973 , Billion Dollar Babies Tour , also seen the band practice when they rented a mansion in Greenwich , CT in the seventies .

You saw them rehearse at the Cooper mansion ? Can you add any details... how'd that come about.... were all 5 guys there ? Please any memories would be exciting to hear !

Well it was over 50 years ago , here we go, a friend & Me decided to find the COOPER MANSION , & that we did , so went up to the driveway and we hear the Band all original 5. Suddenly a big dude approaches us and ask,s what the hell we are doing here? So we make up a story that we on the High School newspaper , we are armed with a portable cassette , and legal pads and pencils , so School is in , baby. The security tells us that we can,t meet the band , but can watch thru a window while THEY practice. Not bad , for a crazy bunch of 16 year old,s . That,s all i have to say about that!

The last album Glen was really involved with was "School's out"... after the SO tour ended in late '72 he was hospitalized for pancreatic surgery because of alcohol abuse...during that and after session guitarists were brought in to play on "Billion dollar babies" & "Muscle of love" and the tours because instead of alcohol... he started using heavy drugs and that was pretty much the end of his "musical" involvement...still kept around to keep the fans happy...like me... what a shame...I'm sure it had something to do with the end of the band...plus Mike Bruce and Neal Smith wanting to do solo albums didn't help...plus Mike Bruce not wanting to work with Bob Ezrin on "Muscle of love" was a giant mistake...Alice gets Ezrin for "Welcome to my nightmare" and it's a platinum success...all I'm saying is if Ezrin produced MOL it may have been a better success like the previous albums and maybe kept the band together for a few more years and albums... but we'll never know... when they broke up I was devastated...there must of been other kids who felt like that...😐

This is FABULOUS !!! I love the ACG from this era so much. Young Alice very raw and in the throes of becoming big. The song collaboration of “Is It My Body / Going To the Graveyard” is actually called “Is It My Body / My Very Own”. The 2 songs were only ever played together live on the “Love It To Death” 1971/72 tours. Alice used to sing these live back as far as 1969. Great video pictures as well, some I haven’t seen. Thanks for the upload.
@Stigmatix666 Жыл бұрын
Correction: "Going To the Graveyard/My Very Own" is in fact the original middle section of "Is It My Body". It was deemed too long for the song when the album was recorded, thus the entire middle section was dropped. The song was still performed in it's entirety up until the Killer tour 71-72

Alice Cooper followed ME for many years . Always in my head whenever I needed the dark themed but jubilant sound to lift myself from the mundane. His imaginative lyrical genius followed by such well structured musicianship was beyond most other bands reach. From a child riding the school bus with the newly released Schools Out in my brain right up until high-school with his release of From The inside..I never missed a single album and was also fortunate enough to see his live performances in the 1980s.
