“We honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we reflect on the courage and resilience of those who came before us. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights Movement that challenged systemic racism and inspired generations to come.
We are proud to present a special highlight video that not only commemorates the historical significance of the Montgomery Bus Boycott but also highlights the vibrant work and dedication of our community here in Southern Oregon. Presented by BASE. In this video, you’ll see the creative expressions of BASE youth, who have beautifully painted bus seats as part of an art collaboration with the Rogue Gallery & Art Center. These works honor the legacy of resistance while showcasing the voices and talents of our youth today.
From January 10 to February 21, you can experience this incredible art exhibit, ‘Journeys of Resistance: Voices in Art,’ at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center. The exhibit features contributions from both BASE youth and Black artists in our community. The community is also invited to join the closing reception on February 21 at 5:30 PM, where you can hear directly from the artists and celebrate their powerful stories and creativity.
Now, let us take a moment to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and honor the legacy of resilience as we watch this special highlight presentation.”
